Kevin Sivils is my real name :)

Thanks again Kevin for the link. I'm a regular on the ngdiscussion.net board, but have been pretty busy this week (year end processing!), and did not see that thread. It is a very cool locomotive and would be right up Bachmann's alley with the previous Brazil and other South of the Border locomotives they have produced. Oh, and that big stack as well!   :o

ksivils (A real name would be helpful),
If you search the forums here, you'll find a number of posts (a number by Hamish and me) about 2-6-2T prototypes, and the call for Bachmann to make a model. You have a real find here!

Here is more information:

Thanks for sharing!

Just thought I'd reply to my own post. Anything new at the ihobby show?

2-6-2. Any configuration. Lots of prototypes out there, both tank and tender, foreign and domestic if you go with a Baldwin design.

On30 / Re: Model Railroader Announces New Products!

What is the SDK purchase?

Maybe the 2-4-2 side tank loco in G scale means something similar coming soon for On30?

QuoteHow's your weather this week? Friday's forecast--HOT new products with COOL features will start to be revealed by Bachmann.

Cool features, huh? Maybe old releases with DCC and Sound?

On30 / Re: Guess the Release thread

Excursion car, excellent guess! I had forgotten about the HO version released last year. I'd put that on my list for sure.

I had diesels on my list, too, but took them off. If I were to put one back on, I'd go with a center cab diesel like the ones that were on Hawaii and are now in Colorado.

We will have a detailed release the week of the convention for those of you who can't make it.
We will make people in all scales very happy!

OK, Mr. Bach-man made this comment last month. So, assuming that the release will be Friday when the convention starts, let's have a little fun guessing what the release(s) will be for On30. Now, let's try not to make this a *wish* thread so much as a guess thread. I have a lot on my wish list, but doubt most will ever see the light of day.  Here are my guesses:

Engine: 2-6-2 OF steam engine Maine Prototype
Rolling Stock: Box car or Passenger car based on Maine Prototype

I'm sure I'm wrong, but I think that Bachmann has a tendency to lean towards 2 foot prototypes over 3 foot. A 2-6-2 mechanism has lots of reusability to it, including export 2-6-2T prototypes.  We'll know pretty quickly!

Craig,
Yeah, after seeing the text all jumbled up when I used Firefox, I tried IE. The page renders better in IE than Firefox.

This is a rather intimidating site at first to look at, but scroll down to look for the blue 760mm gauge steamer in blue, right under the heading "JUNE 26, 2010 - SLEZSKE ZEMSKE DRAHY TRACK DAY"

Normally, new releases are announced at the National Train Show during the NMRA Convention, which is the second week of July this year.

I agree. I was just going to post the dates, but you beat me to it. The exact dates (I must post them because they're in my clipboard!) are July 11-18, 2010. Since its NMRA's 75th anniversary, I would hope that the manufacturers save up their really big announcements for this convention.

CSRR Mgr,
I saw that too, right after I posted my msg!  Just so people know who aren't on the list, the manufacturer, Backwoods Miniatures, stated that the the side tanks are just to "beef up" the loco, and that their intention is that the model would still pull it's tender. That means no coal bunker for the cab like the 2-8-2 conversion has.

A 2-6-2, both Inside and Outside Frames, makes sense from a manufacturing perspective. There were a ton of railroads with a 2-6-2, and Baldwin exported them all over the world. I would think that Bachmann would get a lot of mileage out of the tooling.
