You cannot power the switches from the EZ command control.
Like Len said, you need separate power supply. as in a (wall wart)

the ones i had years ago, you slid the switch one way or the other then quickly pushed down and released the slider.
power only when pushed.

hi John G,
were both motors identical except for the worm gears?
if so the gear mesh is way off and probably slipping.

there is a scale model of that grade and the whole area in the old depot in Hendersonville North Carolina.
it is a beautiful layout.

hi Julie, if this is the 2-6-0 engine and passenger car On30 set, the whole wheel set is listed in the parts section on this site.
go to parts , service & information, click on parts, look for On30 2-6-0, scroll down to wheel sets.
if the axel breaks trying to bend it back.

Hi K,
i had the same problem.
if you are very careful you can trim small amounts off the shaft (where it slides into the coupler) so it will not fall out if you go  the other direction with the "engine" on the outside the curve.
you dhould be able to rotate the truck enough to get the shaft in and out without removing i, just make sure to align the shaft the same way it came out.

have not tried the curved ones yet, the ones I have are very nicely built, # 4s to be exact.
these were bought before the family problems happened.
I will be getting more.

hi John,  i found the part & number in the diagram.
it looks like it has the same pins that 00Z07 it goes on the firebox in place of the coal feed doors.(maybe for oil fired?)
00Z07 is just to the left of the boiler/firebox ass.
