consist: the picture in my book does show all of the train i can definately say that the train was usually pulled by a cnr j-7 pacific the consist varied and the coaches in the pic are as follows: a rpo i can't tell the roadname as there is so roadname only a number then a b & m baggage then a cnr lightweight coach ( i would suggest rapido) then a new haven american flyer streamlined coach and bringing up the rear a cnr non streamlined cafe car.

the international limited is a montreal chicago pool train usually pulled by a cnr northern from montreal to toronto it was a joint cnr/cpr operation but from toronto to chicago it was cnr/gtw operation
consist: a cnr northern and a mixture of cnr and gtw lightweight and heavyweight cars
the pool train agreement lasted until 1965.
and lasly the maple leaf was a detroit toronto train usually pulled buy a cnr u-4-a northern with a cnr/cpr mixed consist as it was a cnr/cpr operation it was an overnight trim so you will need sleepers

im sorry gene for my date being inaccurate i used the info for the cnr as most steam locos were retired in 1959 and for the lucky ones 1960.

i just figured out by searching the walthers website that the version with dcc/sound does not come in cnr livery therefore, i will purchase decals and slap them on the loco along with the eventuall kitbash

to gene summertrainz and bo by smoke i did'nt actually mean REAL smoke i just meant the smoke you get with a smoke generator inside the smokebox using smoke fluid the word smoke was not really meant to be taken litterally(sorry for not stating this originally).

i think he made a good point but i dont think that the 50's will ever loose it's popularity as i think it combines the best of the steam era (in my opinion as all steam locos were produced and running in regular service((i could be wrong)) along with the early deisel era so you have a good balance say %65 %35 in favor of steam 

while i was reading through the latest issue of MR i stumbled on an article i found very interesting it was an article about what a few people think about what will happen to this hobby by 2017 there were some very interesting theories like how one person thought that the most modeled era will be the 1980's or how model steamers will be able to emitt scents so that they can sound, look and smell like the real thing. Seeing as this article was made sing people's opinions i fighured it would be a good idea for a chat topic and so i will start us off!

i think that in 2017 the smoke systems in model steamers will look a lot more realistic with the added option of opening and closing the cyilinder cocks so that when they are open smoke emitts from the sides of the loco making it look a lot more believeable!!

thats good to hear as im running #5 or #6 turnouts and 33 1/4' inside oval
and 35" outside oval  im gunna buy the loco and build a yard around it.
now all that remains is converting the model into the prototype it should'nt be that hard seeing as i do have a pic of it.

does anybody have any info on the proto 2000 0-8-0 switcher? like how it runs, sounds and pulls? im thinking of getting one for my on-the-carpet version or the CNR

i think that there is a major void in all affordable good quality loco lineups (not just b-man) i think that this void may only be filled with... (oh boy here it comes again some might say... ) CANADIAN STEAM! i think that b-man could definatly use a nice u2-g , u2-h or u4-a northern or a u1-f bullet nosed betty as all of these locos frequently hauled cnr "pool trains" to many us cities so the demand for them would not necissarily only be north of the border

in the mean time... let us canadians hope for the best!

question 4: any museum where there is a lot of canadian equipment my all time fav is the canadian national museum of science and techknowlogy in ottawa ont scince it has my fav loco of all time CNR 6400 YAY!!!!!!!!!!! coming in for a close second explorail in montreal where there is so much equipment you need 2 days to see it all plus there is a cpr 2-10-4 selkirk
question 5: if i was to start a museum it would be a museum consisting of all surviving cnr locos and the location would be in downtown toronto inside/outside the old cpr roundhouse (kick the micro-brewery out!!!)

i may get a spectrum n&w j kitbashed into a CNR U4-a class northern but the u class had 77 inch white-walled drivers and the j class had 70 inch drivers. does anybody know if i could replace the stock wheels and if yes where might i be able to get a set of 77 inch white-walled wheels

i am overjoyed that i have just purchased a tsunami heavy steam deacoder along with a 1' speaker and my lhs is installing it in my spectrum 2-10-2 for me! Yay!!!  but i forgot to ask and they forgot to mention approximately how long this installation would take. i figured that many of you on this board have experience with things like this and you might be able to provide me with an ETA for my engine.

i will post pictures as ASAP
