I had hoped it would help someone, however the lack of response shows me that you are the only one so far that it seems to have helped in any way.
Oh well, stuff happens :)

As this is my very first instal I have no idea if the factory ones are louder or not.
However to speculate it may be that the factory ones have "baffles" for the speakers. This will help to amplify the sound and give it more "resonance" making it appear to have more bass.

You can either buy specific baffles for your speaker or you can make your own. Mostly it is just a housing for the speaker and if you have a subwoofer you can see what it does for that for instance.
A baffle simply helps to direct and concentrate the sound of the speaker giving it more resonance among other things.

I hope that helps.

I am glad that someone has read this and taken the time to reply to it. Thanks Nathan for doing so :)

On30 / Decoder instal on On30 Shay Bachamn
May 17, 2009, 12:38:04 AM

I have installed a tsunami decoder on to my On30 Bachman shay and video taped the whole thing.

I have not found anything like this anyplace so I decided to share this with everyone so that you to can instal a decoder as well.

I hope that you find this helpful.

I am not a pro so please don't berate me for not having a professional video. At least I have tried. If anyone wants to give me a proper camcorder I will be happy to make better videos.

As it is I am using a camera in video mode and it is ok but not great.
Go to my main page and scroll down to the date "Saturday May 16th 2009" for the links to it.

Anyhow, for those who want this help it is here for you.

Enjoy :)

General Discussion / Changing decoder address help needed
November 25, 2008, 03:34:50 PM
I finally figured out how to instal the decoder on my own BUT now I can not change the address from the default 03. I emailed digitrax and they said [and I quote]: "You cannot change the address of a Tsunami with the DCS100/200 without Soundtraxx's Program booster".
So I am screwed here. And soundtrax says NOTHING about needing extra anything on their website in order to change the addresses on thier decoders.

Unless someone knows what buttons to press on the superchief to change the address I will have a 600 dollar dud on my hands. If I had known it was gonna be this difficult to get answers and help from soundtraxx and digitrax and bachmann I never would have gone into DCC. This so annoying I don't know what to say.
So  any help would be appreciated thanks.

Email me with your contributions.
This will work if we work together guys.
Thanks head of time for your help. :)

Thanks a lot Steve for your help. Interesting that only one person has ever added DCC to an On30 shay here LOL

I will look into it. Thanks again for all your help:)

It is the speaker install part I have concern about. How did you get it to fit under the pcb board? And yes IF you can get a picture of that part anyhow I would appreciate it.

Thing is I left this til to late I know but I am going to a local train show on Saturday and was hoping to get the speaker etc for this.

Do you know that make model etc of the speaker that you used? Thanks again for all of your help. :)

On30 / On30 2 truck shay decoder instal
November 06, 2008, 07:03:47 AM
I have looked at digitrax, soundtrax, bachmann and over 7 forums and many other places.

I would like to know if ANYONE has actually installed a micro tsunami decoder into a 2 truck shay and if so do you have pictures of how you did it along with the speaker install? Thank you.

Please don't list the so called install manual from soundtrax as it is to basic to be of any use. Also i did email them and they said they don't know.

Thanks for any help you can give to me :)

My way of giving back is to give free everything, tutorials, videos etc. Enjoy
