Jerry, that is the correct gear. Are you looking for someone to replace the gear for you..?  Ed
Yes. It is for a friend and I have never had a Connie apart. I don't like working on friend's locos because I don't want the responsibility if something gets broken.

I had him ask Barry but apparently Barry is unable to do it at least at this time.

He would be happy to have Bachmann to do the repair but it sounds here that Bachmann does not currently have the parts.

For what it is worth we are in Central Arkansas.

Thanks,

Jerry

Apparently Barry does not do installations. Does NWSL do installations?

Is this the right gear?

Fn3 Bachmann 2-8-0 axle gear 25T SGd x 15.8mm OD x .250" ID

Item #: 2226-6
#1 Fn3 Bachmann 2-8-0 axle gear 25T SGd x 15.8mm OD x .250" ID

Fn3 = Large Scale?

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

I decided to keep the Connie (and a recently acquired Annie) on track power without a Revolution. If anything for remote control, I will use older Train Engineers to control the track power along with Aristo Everest and various LGB & Bridgewerks power supplies.

For me battery power is not a practical option both due to cost and maintenance issues. I have nothing against battery power other than it is not a reasonable option for me.

I run mainly track power but also DCC, DCS, Revolution, Train Engineer, Live Steam and even some battery power on my layouts.

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the link. It was interesting to read.

I am in central Arkansas and apparently there were somewhere around 50 railroads (mainly logging) in Arkansas as the forests were harvested.

Although I am not a native Arkansan I still find the railroad history of Arkansas to be fascinating. Fortunately there were several good books written about Arkansas railroads. I am always looking for connections (no matter how small) of other railroads (or often railroad owners) from out of Arkansas.

Your reference is a lot closer than the West Yellow Pine Lumber Company of Florida.

In the end, imagination trumps reality.

Hi Mr. Bach-Man,

Obviously you have achieved your goal. I like to have an idea of what the manufacturer had in mind and I appreciate your thoughts on this.

"Have fun!"

If more "experts" would simply understand this...

Thank you,

Jerry

Large / Re: Bachmann 1:20.3 Rolling Stock?

Thanks for the quick response. I've had Spectrum 2-6-0's & 4-4-0's that were very nice but I don't think they were 1:20.3.

There are no local large scale dealers here (central Arkansas). Is there an easy way to identify Bachmann 1:20.3 products (i.e. number series)? Are all 1:20.3 Spectrum products?

Large / Yellow Pine Lumber?

There are several Bachmann Loco's marked Yellow Pine Lumber. I've done a little research on the Internet and found very little about a Yellow Pine Lumber Company.

Is there a special reason why Bachmann has focused on the Yellow Pine lumber Company (amongst others)? Is it the West Yellow Pine Lumber Company?

Is there a good website or forum with more information on the Yellow Pine Lumber Company?

Just curious.

Thanks,

Jerry

Large / Bachmann 1:20.3 Rolling Stock?
July 31, 2013, 11:01:20 AM
I am not a purist and as long as something looks good to me I am generally happy. I have a fair amount of Bachmann "stuff" and aside from the Connie I'm not sure & don't much care what scale it is.

The Connie changed all this in that it is simply (in my opinion) too large to run with most of my regular rolling stock.

As I looked through the Bachmann web site I did not find anything that appears to be 1:20.3 other than locos.

Since my Connie is marked "Yellow Pine Lumber" my thought was to perhaps add a few 1:20.3 log cars. I don't anticipate buying much else in 1:20.3 as even the Connie has problems with my R3 curves & turnouts.

The Bachmann log cars I have seen in the past strike me as too small for the Connie.

I have not been paying much attention to the hobby lately so I am probably unaware of Bachmann's recent marketing efforts.

Am I missing something?

The Connie is the only 1:20.3 item on my layout. 1:20.3 is simply too large for my layout but I have the Connie and I like it but I could use it a lot more if I could fit Bachmann or LGB hook & loop couplers to it.

After looking at the tender it looks like a H&L conversion will not be easy.

Please DO NOT advise anything other than H&L. I can live with the tender's knuckle coupler if I have to but most of my rolling stock has H&L's. Kadees ARE NOT an acceptable option.

Also...

I can start another topic if necessary but is their an easy way to improve the Connie's pilot wheels tracking so they will push through wrong way turnouts (i.e. weights)?

Thanks,

Jerry

Large / Re: Revolution in Connie?

Hi Stan & Bill,

I should have clarified that I will be using track power with the Revolution.

My main concern was what I would have to do to reroute the loco track contacts from the motors and run them instead to the Revolution in the tender and then feeding power from the tender back to the motors.

It sounds like it will not be that difficult.

My wife has been in the hospital the last few days getting a broken leg fixed. She is home now but still needs a fair amount of attention so things are on a hold for now.

Thanks for the help and the ideas,

Jerry

Large / Revolution in Connie?

Has anyone put a Revolution into a (Yellow Pine Lumber) 2-8-0 Connie?

Would the loco have to be disassembled or could it be done through the tender?

Wiring Diagram?

Thanks,

Large / Yellow Pine Connie Instructions?
July 10, 2013, 05:32:54 PM
I have a 2-8-0 Yellow Pine Lumber loco but I have been unable to find the instructions for it.

I had hoped to find a downloadable set here but have not.

Is it available somewhere?

Thanks,

Jerry

I have a logging train made up of a Bachmann Ely Thomas Porter, freight cars and caboose with Kadee couplers but I want to be able to use a sound car and occasionally a different loco that have hook and loop couplers. I DO NOT want to convert the sound car or the other loco to Kadee couplers.

What is the recommended way to put hook and loop couplers on the 20' Box Cars?

Thanks,
