If you would like to provide funding to the forum to attach photos here I am sure Bachmann would be glad to "switch it on" for you.

Ouch! I'm (almost) sorry I brought it up in the first place... :)

Hmm... well that sucks.  :(

I have some photos on my computer I took myself;  I guess they are not on any "URL", so I guess I'm "SOL"... :)

HO / Posting Photos...
August 04, 2017, 04:26:44 PM
I tried earlier today to post a few snaps shots of a project I'm currently working on. I tried using the same cell phone photos I have used successfully on other forum sites, but here I got a notice saying my pictures were too large.

How does one go about posting one's own pictures here? Thanks.

HO / Re: It's Time For A Change of Crews...

Jonathan

Thanks for your insights and suggestions.

At this time the only Spectrum (or Bachmann) locos I have are indeed the K4 and Connie: how did you know that?  ??? :)

When I had the 2-8-0 apart the other day, I think I did see a small screw at the front of the cab: I believe there was also some glue visible, so it appears that, as you said, separating the cab from the boiler is not an option. The K4 I can't remember, but I'm guessing it's the same.

It also appears that the crew is glued in place, so I have to wonder how difficult it would be to remove them without damaging something; a re-paint would be fine, but getting them out might prove to be asking for trouble.

Will continue to ponder the situation; in the meantime, they are both excellent runners. These are the first HO "split-frame" locos I've had, and although they are a pain the work on ( I "grew up" building Bowser-type steamers), I am impressed with both.

Now to find a tender for the K4...

HO / It's Time For A Change of Crews...
August 03, 2017, 11:45:50 PM
First off, I apologize if this been asked before:

I have a couple of Spectrum steam engines, and would like to swap out the factory-applied crew members for some other, shall I say, more realistic(?) fellows.

Now, I know how to take these things apart for maintenance, but am not sure how one would go about accessing the inside of the cab(s), to remove and replace said crew guys.

Any and all suggestions would be most welcome, and appreciated. Thanks.

N / Re: Why not a PRR K4 like the HO one?

I posed this question some time back on the Atlas Forum: the Pennsy built and used literally hundreds of Pacifics, Mikados, Decapods and Consolidations, yet we find ourselves what i called at that time "Pennsy Challenged".

We have available to us models of locos which had prototypes built in numbers of 50 or much less, yet the only decent PRR engine ever made yet in N has been the Trix K4.

So yes, please feel free to release a K4 (as built, of course!)

N / Spectrum Tender Disassembly
December 27, 2012, 02:40:31 PM
I'd like to know how to take apart a Spectrum USRA Medium and/or Small tender. There does not seem to be any visible way to do so; (at least the Large tender has screws on the bottom that appear to hold the unit together.)

Any advise?
