HO / Running DCC Trolley on DC layout
April 22, 2012, 12:32:55 PM
I just bought a Bachmann Peter Witt trolley with DCC installed.  Can I run it on my DC layout without harm, or, do I need to set up the DCC system first?

I believe the Kadee site says, only the Bachmann Spectrum Observation car requires a #27 (front) & a #27 + 5 box (rear)  The rest use #27 front & rear, unless running tight radius track, then use #454 + 36.   (Conversion List 10-01-08)

If you go to the Kadee website, they have a H.O. scale coupler conversion list.  85' Bachmann passenger cars use #37, or #454.  Bachmann Spectrum pass cars use #27.  Maybe, the #5 is not designed to work with your cars.

::)  Got out all my Metroliners (stored for years, awaiting trackage under construction)  A total of 16, & some from all 3 variations.  Now have plenty of spare parts, as pot-metal rot did occur on several.  Can't complain, as they were a result of dismantling a friend's layout, years ago.

:-[ Sorry, I failed to mention, years ago I was given a complete (track & power pack)  new Bachmann Amtrak Metroliner set. The cars all have "horn-hook" couplers!

HO / Bachmann Metroliners with link & pin couplers
January 27, 2009, 01:57:15 PM
???  About 20 years ago, I bought a 4 car consist (1 Pwd + 3 Unpwd) of Bachmann Amtrak Metroliners, from a friend. 10 years ago, I was given another powered unit (broken) & another unpowered car. They are unique in the fact they have what I call "link & pin" couplers!  Were they made for the export market, or, are they so old, they are before horn-hook couplers were invented?  Thanks for any replies!

My "O" Union Station is an actual 6.5 " wide X 9.5" long X 5" high (without the two add-on platforms)  Hope this helps!

Ernie - According to the USPS website, you can fill out Form 6401, & pay a fee of $5.20 for a lost Money Order!  (assuming you sent a Postal MO)

A Grandson received the Spiderman set, & I, the Police set, as gifts.  Spread out over a couple of Holidays (Birthdays, Christmas, etc.)  Nickel silver Bachmann EZ-track.  Does everything have to be prototypical?
