On30 / Re: On30 Railtrucks

I also have experienced issues with the rear end gears on both of my railtrucks. On both of these vehicles I have spent considerable time, and expense, on cosmetic upgrades (Mt. Blue body on one), and to send them back for replacement is out of the question. Both were acquired in the U.S. but my dealer, here in Maine, is essentially out of business. So, there goes a second alternative. Replacement parts of good quality should be available for those modelers who want and are able to use them. Period.

On30 / Re: (Solved :) ) Rail trucks "split gear syndrome"
December 19, 2010, 05:50:11 PM
Good Evening All,

I just attempted to run one of my two railtrucks and it just sits and spins its wheels. It hasn't been run for a while, but did just fine last time out. I removed the gear housing on the bottom and the gears looked, at first glance, to be fine. Is this the sort of issue that split gears produce? I didn't see any splits but then again, I didn't examine them too closely. Any response will be appreciated.

Mr. Bach Man,

Along sort of the same lines as some previous questions, how difficult is it to add DCC to this updated 2-6-0? I'm asking as a severely limited, electrically, modeler. Also, will this version have a working front coupler or the previously offered cast on coupler integral with the pilot?

Thanks for your response.

On30 / Re: 4-6-0 problems

Just an update on my erratic 4-6-0. I took it into my local hobby purveyor and he ran some tests. It seems that the decoder was kaput. Whether it was something I did or defective from the factory I do not know. Anyway, it has a new decoder and I have reassembled it and it runs fine.

On30 / 4-6-0 problems
September 22, 2009, 03:34:36 PM
Dear Bachmann (or others)

I recently received my 4-6-0 ( the undec, steel cab version) and when I took it out of the box and joined the electrical connectors, it ran fine. I exercised it for a couple of days and then separated the loco and tender to detail and decal them. When I reattached the two units, the loco went crazy. On DC, it runs OK in reverse but will not budge forward. On DCC, which will be the norm, it does not go in either direction under control and the decoder buzzes as it jerks backward on its own for about a distance of about two inches on about 5 second cycles. My DCC controller (MRC Prodigy Express) goes into "SVPA" mode with each jerk. Anybody have this experience or suggestions? It could easily be something that I inadvertently hit on the DCC keypad since I'm about as electronically minded as a cocker spaniel, but it is very frustrating. Other locos run fine on their assigned frequencies in all details. Help!

On30 / 4-6-0 availability
August 23, 2009, 04:42:42 PM
This is just a general question regarding the availability of the 4-6-0. Should all hobby shops that deal with Bachmann products be able to get this loco by this time? I'm still waiting on my undec version here in Maine, and it seems like most others have received their models.

On30 / Slow speed railtruck
February 06, 2009, 01:44:45 PM
Hi All,

I just joined this forum so I could ask a question about my railtruck. When I purchased it several years ago, it would perk along at a nice, not excessive speed. Recently, it seems to  poke along, barely getting out of its own way. I use an MRC Prodigy Express DCC system. I'm running the model at 128 spd. steps, wide open and just doesn't move out. I am very much an electronics novice, so I haven't done much fiddling with re-programming et al. I have a second railtruck that does seem to be OK speed wise. I am not looking to have these guys running at 100+ scale miles an hour, but it does seem like the first- mentioned should move a little faster than it does. Has anyone experienced or had to deal with this; suggestions?

Thanks,  Bob Bennett
