Good suggestion D.R., but where are these free decoders or free replacements or trade-in facilities or websites located? Having to replace over 30 decoders just to relocate f key functions seems highly unlikely and would involve some sort of Lottery check for me. That's well over $3000.00 to reconvert them all.
I hope you see I'm trying to stay Brand Loyal here guys, but do not want to be this limited in doing so, would you?
What will replacing what I need into to another system having "ALL" the nmra capabilities, as a basic footprint to start from, actually cost me using the rudimentary system I have? See my predicament? I'll only be running 9 trains max, but I will want them all to perform to all of their capabilities.
I should be able to continue using my 5 amp booster, so it seems I'll need a good handheld controller and an IR interface, if available, to maintain what I have now, right?
Bachmann have them available? The newer Dynamis Ultima only goes to f-21 I'm told from webinars.
I don't need a new car, just a new distributor and plug set should make mine run better.

Great layout D.R. with a system you are obviously very happy with, wish I had one like yours and the rolling stock to boot.
My quest for Bachmann answers was to get access to f-21 thru f-29.
These are used by aftermarket add on sound decoders to program their effects.
I have several steam engines as well as diesels with NCE decoders and I have had to add these decoder types to all of the units in order to have them sound equipped.
As we all are aware the Bachmann handheld IR controller device stops at f-20 and the chuff type selection on these devices is f-24, a basic need for anyone with sound. A Mother Hubbard is never supposed to sound like a Niagara 4-8-4.
Without the ability to change these f keys to the desired features these decoders will always be the base or factory selected options unable to be modified using the Dynamis system, correct?
I prefer to learn from other peoples bloody knuckles instead of mine, as ho is small ha ha, so I'm here for lessons and answers for my particular situations.
Isn't it all about enjoying what we have? I appreciate any and all info out there.

When I had programming questions while you were unavailable I had this response---

"""There is probably nothing wrong with the quality of your product, but it is limited with what you are able to do with it.

Recommendation would be to start using something more advanced from MRC, Digitrax, or NCE. Other possibilities are ESU, Roco, and Lenz. Sell the Bachman on eBay, trade it in at a hobby shop, or sell it at a train show."""

This is what I was told on an on line site dedicated to HO DCC when asked about programming commonly available dcc cv'c and other dcc commands with my expanded Dymanis system. Isn't this your best system for dcc ho?

Have things improved? Can I make my system better continuing to use Bachmann products?

I have so much invested in your system as we speak.

What's your response to this?

HO / Bachmann and MTH
April 16, 2018, 07:12:15 PM
Mr. Bachmann,

So I now a have an MTH Mohawk for my ho layout. Sweet. When I put on my setup and try to start up or turn on the system, the other eight locos on the tracks skip and sputter and hum and click until I tip the MTH off the track it is on and let the other trains start or come on. Once that happens I can reset the MTH back on the track it is on and all is fine. The MTH waits for f-3 to start like it is supposed to and operates normally.
My setup is a Dynamis Pro with a 5 amp booster.
If the MTH is supposedly dormant until individually called up where is the voltage or current disruption coming from? Why is it so much of a load it trips the booster, but is ok after the old on off?

HO / Sound for Niagara's?
March 29, 2018, 01:12:59 PM
What sound decoder setup is recommended for use in the Niagara?
TCS has some Bachmann motherboard specific listings but not for the centipede tender configuration.
Has anyone done an upgrade to sound?

Thanks

Sadly this is the anniversary of the loss of my nephew SSg MArk A. Stets jr. US ARMY  in Pakistan Lower Dir in 2010 along with two other soldiers and three young girls at an attack by the Taliban.
Please keep them and all the fallen in your hearts and minds as you seek peace in your life.

Roster in the loosest of meanings.
It s just the actual list of what you have entered, up to a limit of 40 items, then swap out units to stay at 40.
There is NO Way to sequence the entries alphabetically or numerically by the Dynamis without entering the info in said order.
Its just a LIST.

The everyday calling out is not the problem, its the "emergency situation" that puts the system in jeopardy. Calling out the individual engine with the problem before the situation gets out of hand without "hitting the STOP Button" and shutting the whole layout down is what I am referring to. I have several duplicate 4-6-4's, 4-8-4's, E-7's, RS's, etc, so picking the right one is crucial.
Guess I need a secretary to keep it all straight on a "Currently Active Display Board" so I can have a quicker response time, especially on parallel tracks sections.  I can have up to 9 trains so....the quicker I can sort things the better.

The Dynamis Pro system and "no software", unlike Decoder Pro and its software (free) will not sequence entries by alphabet or numbers so that's why the question.
I don't know why this was not considered when the system was made available. Did they not think that someone would use more than one or two trains at a time? I have over thirty entries of steamers, diesels, and consists entered on my list and trying to find a single engine easily is more that a test of memory and key entries.
You can only get there by super fast toggling or the correct engine call out on the keypad.
Miss something and send in the MOW for cleanup!!! Just ask me!
So that's why I asked the Bach Man. Am I asking too much?

Bach Man,

Is there a way to alphabetize or sequence the registry in my Dynamis Pro system. I have to keep my schedule list handy or my trains to a known group to move about the tracks safely. The registry is as the engines and diesels were originally entered into the list. Diesels, locomotives, and consists, all random. Searching for a specific  train to change parameters through the same bowl of ball bearings each time drags on a bit since the screen only shows loco last used. Having the list available in some order would make the search so much quicker. Shouldn't hard since there are only 40 slots available for input
Do I have to write down my own new list on paper then enter them ALL back onto the registry in the order I want after DELETING ALL my current entries??

HO / Re: 5 amp Boosters
January 12, 2018, 07:40:57 PM
Cobbled a couple cables and plugged them in flipped the switch to 18 v because I have a Spectrum 10 passenger car consist and std lighting so big draw.
All loops hi ballin' with a mix of old and new steamers. My older BLI is sensative to signal and when it restarts the current draw is now obvious as the booster kicks in. Seeing that points me to the source of the problem I had of tripping off randomly.
