HO / AHM motor rpm & gear ratio
July 08, 2011, 09:38:11 PM
does anyone know what the gear ratio in an AHM challenger is? also any idea of how much rpm the AHM motor will put out on wide open throttle. it's a 1978 year model i believe. it's a grey 3975 or something like that.

well i got a NPR 759 berk. i've added about 2.25 ounces of lead already. it runs very well on my 18" radius curves, but it isn't what i would call a powerhouse, but i guess if i had wider curvers & metal wheels on my cars it would pull more. has anyone added any bullfrog snot to their berk yet?

Pay no attention to the weirdness of the locomotive.  It was practice for better projects later on...

i don't see anything wrong with that engine.  i'm using dc with directional lighting.

what about the older ones? wasn't they made to run on 18" radius track? if they was & people designed their layout with 18"r, if they have to get one warrantied their screwed now. why wouldn't they make them to run on a standard 18" radius?

i found the Instructions for Wiring Relay Reverse Board to Start in Neutral. my question is, have any of you done this? do you have a picture of the board after it's done? i think i know how it is said to be done, but i just want to make sure before i screw my board up.

cut 1 & 2 from side "a", nothing goes back into side "a" for either 1 or 2 correct? then 1 to 7 & 2 to 2. are they long enough, or is a jumper wire needed? thanks & sorry if this is confusing.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: GP-9 shells
May 05, 2011, 09:31:08 PM
back when williams owned willians, i had busted a shell that had fallen off a table. they was good enough to let me buy a replacement of the shell that came off of it, same road name & road number. would WBB do that?

i'm wanting another steamer. i'm not sure if i should go with a berkshire or a northern. i have a niagara & like it, plus i sold my ahm/rivarrosi berkshire so i could use one of those as well. are the bachmann bershires small like the ahm berkshires? how do they compair in pulling power to a 4-8-4? i'm wanting a NPR 759 or a santa fe 4-8-4.

HO / Re: older bachmann niagara bulb & smoke unit
May 01, 2011, 12:56:27 PM
the smoke unit is like this one. http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_68_91&products_id=1705&zenid=pfvh9oj6057ksgff29gcnqjoe0

i broke the post out of mine, i know it's not working. i just like it to be there if i ever want it to smoke. i usually don't, but every now & then i'll drop some fluid in them to feed the kid in me. would the bulb be a 3mm bulb?

i thank all of you for your help. i just bought a cb&q 4-8-4 that looks sweet as hell, i just hope it doesn't have the pancake motor in it. did all of those have the pancake motors? i don't know why they don't offer that paint sceam anymore.
