??? ??? ??? Has Bachmann ever made any item (in any scale) with the Strasburg Railroad road name? (I'm especially interested in locomotives.)

So, nothing ever came of this suggestion? Bachmann still makes nothing for the Strasburg Railroad in any scale?

N.H.&I.railfan,

Rather than mess with the old out of dat chassis and gears on th loco you have why not consider getting a new chassis with the Version 5 chassis.  The chassis are on sale now $45 and the version  5 is extremely reliable compared to what you have.

Since you did not say what loco you have I cannot make specific recommendations except to say this one will fit any Big Hauler 4-6-0 except for the paint colors.

Also see my commentary on repairs to the 4-6-0:

Sorry, Loco Bill, I omitted it's the "LIBERTY BELL LIMITED" set I'm asking about.

Bob,

One thing you should do is "Strapping" the motor.  Send me an email and I'll send you a copy of the instructions.  What it does is hold the motor in place so it doesn't chew up the gears.  Other wise a pretty good drive.

I know it's a long shot since this listing is so old, but will someone please post the instructions you mentioned for strapping the motor? Thank you.

About five years back it was suggested by quite a few on this forum that a large scale, G-scale Strasburg set would be a great idea. At that time, BachmannMan mentioned he'd approach the company with the idea yet there's been no followup mention to that thread for about five years. Surely the decision makers at B Industries must have had the idea of a large scale Strasburg RR set run by them. since then So, Mr. B Man, how about it, is there a chance they might reconsider the feasibility of making a Strasburg set?
After, with O-gauge Lionel has done quite well with its Strasburg set and varioux add-on cars. MTH, too has made Strasburg locomotives and cars in O-gauge (and even standard tinplate) which have proven to be 3-rail favorites and good sellers. There are those model railroaders who even run them in O-gauge garden layouts. If B Industries would do customer research or a simple survey in Garden Railway magazine they'd find many RR enthusiasts would seriously consider purchasing a large G-scale scale Strasburg RR set if one were available.
So how about it B Man? Please convince the powers who be at B Industries not to miss the boat (er, train) and see some other manufacturer gobble up the profits making  a large G-scale Strasburg Railroad set.

I purchased this trolley when first available in anticipation of building a layout which hasn't happened yet so it remained sealed in original shipping carton until yesterday when I read of this problem. Opened and examined it and unfortunately it too exhibits an indication of inferior castings displaying an early stage of zinc pest.

I am looking to buy a Plasticville o scale pedestrian bridge, preferably unassembled in box but will also consider one that's already built/glued together. If you have one to spare or know someone who does or have come upon  a very recent listing for one, by all means, please email me (or if that's not a doable option, then at please post here information regarding where I could obtain one, Thank you in advance.

About two years back it was brought up by quite a few on this forum what a good idea a large scale Strasburg set would be. BachmannMan mentioned back then he'd approach the company with the idea but there's been no followup mention to that thread for about two years. Surely the decision makers at B Industries must have had the idea of a large scale Strasburg RR set run by them. Well Mr. B Man, are they giving it any consideration?
Afterall, Lionel has done quite well with their O gauge Strasburg set and add-on cars. They, as well as K-Line and MTH, have also done locomotives in o gauge which have been 3-railer's favorites and good sellers. (And there are those who even run these in o gauge garden layouts.) MTH has even noted it profitable to do an o gauge Strasburg RR tower. If B Industries would do customer research or even a simple survey in Garden Railway magazine they'd find many RR enthusiasts would seriously consider purchasing a large scale Strasburg RR set if one were available.
So how about it B Man? Is B Industries going to miss the boat (er, train) and see Arista or some other manufacturer do it and gobble up the profits to be made from its manufacture and sale?

I recently purchased three new Williams scale GG-1s. How can I remove their shells to place engineers inside the cabs? Is this doable? Is there enough room to place seated engineer figures inside a Williams scale GG-1 cab? If you have already added figures to a Williams scale GG-1 interior cab, which manufacturer's figures are the best to use for both fit and size with minimal kit-bashing modification needed? Thanks in advance for your replies.

What exactly is meant by electronic reversing unit on the Williams O 23909 Philadelphia Transit Co. Peter Witt Street Car? Is that the same as bump and go where a streetcar travels on a straight run of track and when it's progress is stopped by an end of track bumper it automatically reverses direction? Or do you have to constantly push the transformer's direction button to have it change its direction of travel? Couldn't find a way to access this streetcar's manual by way of this website.

???  Annie and Clabel coaches on my nephew's new Thomas the Train set frequently derail as they head into curves. They're running on an oval track. Anyone else experiencing this, or similar problems with your large scale Thomas set?  Would appreciate suggestions on what, if anything, you've done done to stop such derailing. Train is set up on carpeting and encircles the Christmas tree. My 2-1/2 year old nephew is disappointed his present from Santa won't work the way it should. Thanks in advance for any feedback, suggestions, or help.

Large / What's an Annie?
July 26, 2011, 07:46:49 PM
Being somewhat versed in all scales except G and Z (I'm a newbie of G having only I set I'd purchased many years ago and only took out for a few Christmases when my niece was small) I now have the time to also get involved with G sets. Many forum members routinely refer to Annies. What exactly is an Annie loco and how does it differ from the standard Big Hauler loco? Are they high end Big Hauler locos? Which currently available Bachman sets include an Annie chassis 5 version loco? Thanks for helping bring me up to speed on Bachmann's Annies.

Forum readers - which is a better choice? Should I wait to order a 2011 Big Hauler with the new version 6 chassis locomotive that will have all metal gears or go with the current sets offering the time tested version 5 chassis? I know none of you know the future for a new untested version but in general would all metal gears be an improvement to the current version's gears? What are the advantages of all metal gears?  More durable, longer lasting, less maintenance, greater reliability and a more trouble-free, quieter, smoother running locomotive at all speeds with greater pulling power? If quality and robustness of the locomotive rather than time is my main consideration, do you feel the change to metal gears in the newest version is a significant enough improvement over currenrt versions to make it worth waiting for the 2011 sets? Thanks in advance to all forum members for your valued input and opinions.
