A real bummer.  I was really hoping for 2 Narrow Guage engines, but we get nothing.  Almost makes me want to sell off what I have in NG and forget about it if were never going to get the rest of the core engines.

A Stuart version of Peter Sam would definitely be worth buying as it would (hopefully) have the old funnel instead of Peter Sam's current Giesel funnel.

Peter Sam would need his normal funnel before the episode of Trucks.

Yeah, like you said.

All neat ideas.  I don't know necessarily if they'd have double the sales though.  Maybe depending on what you wanted to model you could choose one or the other.  Couldn't see having Stuart and Falcon though unless they released Duke though.

I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm mainly into the Narrow Gauge now as I've really fallen in love with the characters and stories, plus being small, I think I could more easily do a nice layout with them.  That being said, really hoping for the rest of the main engines from Series 4 in this order:

Sir Handel (if possible, switchable name plates for Sir Handel/Falcon)
Peter Sam (swappable nameplates too)
Duncan
Duke

Rolling stock, I'd like:

Brake vans in various colors

Any other rolling stock or accessories would be wonderful, but really hoping they can pick up on getting the original engines done.

And I'll throw in for HO too, I know everyone says every year it can't be done, but Diesel 10 would be great.

Chaz, you forgot to mention Mavis.

I got just got tired Nia and Rebecca communication. This subject should wait later on the year.
I don't have problems with females. My problem is there is so many trains for a very short island. (The last time I measured the island's mainline was 150 or so more miles. I never measured the height.) Adding more characters doesn't make sense to me. I'm surprised they're not bumping bumper to bumper.

This is a great observation!  So, how many engines do they have in all?  I guess as new ones come old ones fade into the background some, but they've got so many.  We know why they're introduced, to keep the show interesting to children and more importantly to sell new toys.

I strongly doubt the new show will get a lot of positive reception since a lot of people are angry at Mattel for getting rid of Edward, Henry and Toby from the steam team. I also think that nia and Rebecca being announced in HO scale would just further add fuel to the fire since Mattel would be simply giving the middle finger to those who enjoyed the three I mentioned in the steam team.

What do you think? I would love to hear the opinions of others on this subject. :)

I think it's just more pandering to the pc police again.  So tired of this stuff.  It's a show about trains, the primary audience will always be boys.  I don't know why they feel they need to shove female characters down our throats.  Next thing, they'll introduce an engine who isn't sure what gender he/she is.

We haven't had any cable TV in years, so unless the new seasons are available for streaming on Netflix, Hulu, or Prime, we probably won't see the characters for a few years until the DVD of the season is released, assuming they're still working through the seasons, currently think they're only at S18 and seems like one comes out a year as of late.

Hopefully it will fail and things will go back to how they were.  They already had a few strong female characters, no need to add more just for the sake of needing more females, let alone bump the original main engines out of the picture.

That's what I hate about Amazon, all the 3rd party sellers.  If amazon proper is out of something, the 3rd party sellers will try to dupe you into overpaying.

I usually just use ebay for all my train purchases, just avoid huge conglomerates that sell everything and stick to hobbyshops or individuals selling their 2nd hand items.

N Gauge isn't a bad though honestly for the main roster.  As long as the do metal bodies like they did with the Narrow Guage engines.  It would open up possibilities of doing larger layouts in smaller spaces and including so many more features a lot of us would love if space weren't a big issue.

Thanks for posting so much thought guys!

Firstly, agree on the brake vans for the NG line.  Preferably the tooling from the model series like most have said.  And yes, I would certainly buy them in all colors, red, blue, brown and grey too.

So for me top wants:

Narrow Guage:

Peter Sam, Sir Handel, Duncan
Brake Vans in multiple colors
Tippers

HO:

Diesel 10 (don't care that everyone says he can't be made, will list it anyway, so Bachmann knows there's demand and can try to figure out a way to make it work.)
Den
Dart
Daisy

HO Rolling Stock:

Flat cars w/ various loads, (lumber, oil drums etc)

And then some buildings/structures for HO/NG.  Too many to really list, but there was a lot of great stuff in the earlier posts.

Not into large scale, so can't really say much there.

Yeah, definatly need the brake vans next, three different colors as pictured above would be great.  That's the next biggest need after besides the rest of the original engines.

Also just wondering, typically how long after the new catalog comes out are the discontinued items actually discontinued?

Intresting announcements.

Really glad to see coaches for Narrow Guage, but really dissapointed about no engines.

At this rate it will be late 2020 before we have a 4th engine in the range.  I wonder if there's any chance of 2 being announced next year?  Hopefully at least Peter Sam, and hopefully a 2nd either Sir Handel or Duncan.

Looks like the stickied thread from last year's announcements were posted around 11:30 am.  Not sure if that was the day of though, or if the topic was made and stickied a few days after.

Wow, I was really shocked when I saw how expensive the NG rolling stock was for the Thomas range!

Are there any other toolings that are reused without the Thomas branding that would make good alternatives to save on cost?

Sounds wonderful, I love the idea of the NG line over the round house.  And alternating between the 2 engines sounds great.
