Williams by Bachmann / Re: 2015 Williams Catalog

I noticed that the 2015 Williams catalog is the smallest yet with the least amount of product shown.  I am also wondering what the fate is of those models not depicted here.

Williams by Bachmann / Locking in forward
June 15, 2013, 04:26:00 PM
I have a customer who has brought in a Williams 2361 Fairbanks Morse.  The engine runs like a charm, however he wants to lock it in forward due to certain track and accessories conditions on his pike.  Is there any way to accomplish this being as this unit has only the electronic reversing board.

Thank you,

Lee I just received the hopper car today.  Beautiful!

Yes Lee the 2012 Hopper.  As I mentioned, on April 19, 2013 at York the folks at the Bachmann booth claimed these were in and shipping.  I have not seen anything as yet.

When are these cars shipping to us?  I was told recently at York that they were in and shipping out, however that was on 4-19-13 and I have not seen anything as yet.

Thank you,

I saw in a previous posting that the 2011 club cars should be in at the end of this year.  What about the 2012 Platinum Club membership, is that open as yet?

Ed, first mistake.  Never disassemble a Bachmann engine.  These products are covered by a Lifetime Limited Warranty which you just voided.  For a minimal bench charge, Bachmann will completely repair or replace the unit for you.

We have a complete repair shop in our basement, and anytime I receive a Bachmann product I am off to the repair center.  The repairs and / or replacements are done in a timely manner and I have never experienced a problem.

I even brought in my original Pennsylvanian G scale locomotive for which I suspected had a broken drive gear.  For (at that time) a $ 30.00 bench charge I received a completely new drive / chassis assembly, headlight and smoke unit.  It cannot be beat.

The longest radius in preformed "O" scale is 072.  Of course you could make that a little larger with GarGraves flex track or similar product.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Bachmann Warranty Repairs

dkmoss, you may have hit them at a busy time.  I am fortunate enough to live about an hour away.  Each time I drop off a warranty repair, it is completed in a very favorable time period.  The Bachmann warranty or the service department has never failed to come through.

I completely understand.  You have to go with what you are comfortable with.

MB425: we do many repairs here at my shop.  The answers you have received so far cover the wide variety of what could be wrong with your engine.  Personally, I have yet to experience this particular issue.  All of my personal Williams trains run with no problem as do the Bachmann ones.

Besides electrical, are you sure you do not have a small bearing issue?  (I use that term to describe every single way train motor manufacturers' seat and rotate their motors.

It also seems you have an aversion to sending the piece back for evaluation or repair.  We send pieces back to the manufacturer many times; when they are within their warranty periods, or have lifetime warranties.  May be worth consideration, unless you just shelve the piece.

Keep them rollin'.

Alex, do not forget Bachmann's lifetime warranty.  If there is a defect or multiple defects, you can get it back to Bachmann and they will repair the problems.  All they charge is a $ 30.00 bench fee.

I brought them my 12+ year old Pennsylvania engine, and they replaced the entire chassis assembly with all wheels, gears and motor, replaced my smoke unit and replaced the headlight.  The charge, $ 30.00.

THE KEY IS THAT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY, YOU MUST NOT DISASSEMBLE THE PIECE OR HAVE TAKEN IT APART IN ANY WAY.
