Jeff, I mixed up what I feel is a fairly close match using Pensy Tuscan Red and Caboose Red, both from Floquil. Just painted up a set of cars for mine, and did my best to match the paint, without actuall putting any on the locomotive or tender. Can't give you an exact formula, I just mixed it until it looked good to me. Plus, since I was painting the cars instead of the engine, was not quite as concerned with it matching exactly. Hope this this helps you out. Sully

Thanks all. Have had a blast on these so far. Just wish that someone would do the correct decals. Sully

Well, here are the five cars I have painted so far. Decided to get the Kato observation. Have cleared one of the cars, been too humid around here to do the rest. Painted the stripes, but I think the bottom stripes came out too thick. The upper stripe on the baggage was freehanded which is why it is uneven in places. Figure I will repaint if and when more accurate markings for these come out. Besides, the paint I mixed for the red has set up. I have the worst time trying to save paint once I mix it. Let me know what you think. Sully

Thanks for the idea Alan. After looking at my decals and talking to a couple of people, I have figured out that the Microscale decals are not accurate for what I am doing. Will probably use some of them anyway until something better comes along. With the popularity of the new J Class, I have a feeling it's just a matter of time.

Check the Badger airbrush site. They have something called Modelflex.

A note about the Accuflex paint. I do not think it is still in production. It was made by Badger Airbrush Company, but they do list a line called model flex. Looks like it is the same stuff. Hope this helps you out some. Sully

Well, got the blue on the engine Saturday. Only had a very little bleed through onto the yellow. As far as the stuff on the shell, I removed both horns, but probably don't really need to, as they are blue also. I just turned the shell over and use a pointed tool, it is a probe from an old science lab disecting kit, and pushed them out. The hand rails pulled out very carefully with tweezers. Next I need to do the lower portions of the side, just can't tell if they are silver or white. Will have some pics on Wednesday. Also got the paint mixed and one of my passenger cars painted. Sully

Depends on the radius of the turns you want. I know that with 19" radius, it take 12 pieces to make half a circle. Not sure for the other sizes. The straight sections will depend on how long you want those to be. Sorry it is not more informative, but hope it will help. Maybe checking the Bachmann catalog will give some more insight. Sully

Accuflex is an acrylic enamel. Very nice to paint with. I have done an HO caboose in red, and my N scale F-unit so far. Posted pics of the F unit a while back on here. As far as the dificulty of painting the BL-2, will have to tell you after it is done. Just have the yellow on it so far. Hope to mask and shoot the blue on Saturday. Sully

Will do. Got the BL-2 primered and the yellow shot yesterday. Love working with AccuFlex paints. Not sure when I will start on the cars, but hope to soon. Will definitely post some pics. Sully

Well, got the passenger cars today. Very pleased with them. Think that they may not be the scale size of the Norfolk & Western cars, but they will work for me. Couple of things I may alter, like take the skirts off the sides, and would like to make the windows on the observation car smaller. Will post pics when I am done with them. Oh yeah, got a BL-2 last week that is getting ready to go to the paint shop. Had the markings for it left on the sheet for the F unit (Chesapeake & Ohio), so I thought I would do up one of these. That will be cool. May hold off just a little to see what Micro Trains offers. Mainly since I don't have any of the Pocahontas or Powhatten Arrow logos to add to my cars. Besides, I kinda like seeing something that I have made, not just bought, kinda like my old Trix that I did the wave scheme on. I have also remarked a 2-6-2 prarie with C & O livery, and am planning on converting my Northern into a C&O Greenbriar. 2 exceptions are my RJ Corman SD unit, and of course my J-Class!

The ones I have bought are currently Union Pacific. Will have to repaint, and use the 2 sheets of N&W decals I managed  to find. Would like to add lighting. The cars are an observation, coach (x3), diner, & baggage/ rpo. Can't wait to get them in and start the repaint. Sully

Well, I finally bought a set of Con-Cor heavyweights. These seem to be about the closest I could find to the Pocahontas / Powhattan Arrow cars. Will have to measure them when they arrive, but don't really care about the length anymore. Spending 6 months looking for these things has made my head spin. Have 2 sets of the Micro Scale N&W decal sets, so I will be repainting and marking them. Just don't have the the Pocahontas / Powhattan Arrow markings. Will post some pics of them when done, especially behind my Spectrum J-Class. And if Bachmann ever does a set of cars for this loco, will consider those as well. Sully

Well, since I got that first pic to post, here are a couple more shots of her. Still have to wash the grills on the sides, and get a set of horns for it. I also had to rebuild one side of the pilot. Sully
