16  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Re: Wiring a momentary circuit to trigger an EZ Track turnout on: May 25, 2017, 02:31:02 PM
Thanks. I'm using a BlueRail board. If anyone knows if my polarity reversal is cool feel free to chime in. Otherwise I'll just give it a shot.

I have some leads that I can control wirelessly with a smartphone, and I am trying to utilize them to control an EZ Track turnout.  I have 1 common positive lead, and I have up to 4 negative leads. I am able to control each of these negative leads as a momentary switch (from my smart device).

I'm wondering if I can use them similar to the 3 wires typically used, except that the polarity is swapped (I would have a single positive lead, and 2 negative leads).
18  Discussion Boards / Large / Putting a decoder in a Grizzl Flats Emma Nevada on: May 24, 2017, 04:01:02 PM
I have a friend (disabled) who has asked me about putting a decoder in his Grizzly Flats Emma Nevada. I am not super familiar wit this loco.

The product description says includes "circuit board to accommodate the control system of ... NMRA/NEM DCC).  Does this mean it has an 8-pin socket on it?

When I look through the parts online, I see 3 possible PCBs for 2-6-0s:

Does anyone know which one of these is in the Emma Nevada?
19  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Wiring a momentary circuit to trigger an EZ Track turnout on: May 24, 2017, 02:18:03 PM
I have a pair of wires (which I am able to remotely control) that I would like to use as a momentary switch to trigger an E-Z Track turnout. I am able to momentarily complete the circuit on these 2 wires.  Can anyone please explain to me how I can use these 2 wires and wire them into an E-Z App turnout and trigger it?
20  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: Adding a decoder to a DCC-Ready Climax on: May 23, 2017, 01:18:15 AM
This site says the Climax has a "slip current" of 2 amps (hard stall 5):

I don't pull a lot of cars.

I would think Bachmann would have some sort of harness available that plugs into the Climax and gives you either bare wires or a connection option.

Is this 21-pin to 8-pin connector part of the equation?

I would like to add a decoder to a DCC-Ready Climax. The Climax does not have an 8-pin socket as I imagined. Is there a plug that I can get that plugs into this loco so I can have connectivity with a standard 8-pin DCC decoder that plugs in?

If I could get the name of that plug (or a link) that would be great.

Also, is the DCC-Ready plug inside the boiler?

I tried it out. Works just like the video. Good job.

26  Discussion Boards / E-Z App / Re: Bluetooth Speaker on: March 01, 2017, 09:04:54 PM
Just to be clear, the APP doesn't pair with a speaker. You pair your phone/tablet with a speaker, which routes all sounds to the speaker (regardless of what APP you are running). Pairing is generally done from the Settings/Bluetooth area in your phone/tablet.  If you are having problems pairing your device to a bluetooth speaker, I would google "(name of device) can't pair bluetooth" and see what you find.

Glad you got it working. A transformer (Life-Like) would never have issues related to bluetooth. More likely it has issues related to amperage being drawn the moment the loco starts rolling.

Sounds like you started a thread about a loco that doesn't suit your needs.  But just so you know, there are plenty of devices that will run these trains, and a monthly service is not required. I see RCA voyagers are $42:

As for sound, lots of people put mini-bluetooth speakers in a trailing car for very cheap: http://bluerailtrains.com/2016/01/05/bluerail-trains-onboard-sound-for-10/

Best of luck.
29  Discussion Boards / Williams by Bachmann / Identifying colored wires used in lights on GP-30 on: February 28, 2017, 08:34:41 PM
There are 4 colored wires that lead to small circuit boards that power the lights on a Williams GP-30:  red, black, yellow, blue.

Can someone please tell me what sort of power runs through these 4 colored wires?

Is black ground? Is red Track voltage? What are blue and yellow?

Any help is appreciated.

Large Scale Thomas has 2 wires that lead to the motors (yellow and brown). Does anyone know which wire is positive and which wire is negative?
