Large / Re: large scale couplers

Mike,  Assuming you have reasonably decent track and have cleared any debris from the middle of the tracks, the easiest fix is paint them!!  Again I stand with JD on this issue, I spray paint my Bachmann Knuckle Couplers with the cheapest Wal-Mart or any discount store red oxide primer.  The added bite from the paint seems to do the trick.  They not only stay together better and save me all the work of the other fixes, but also look great in the rust like color of the red oxide paint.   I keep several complete trucks with the couplers painted and installed in stock.  When I get a new car I swap out the trucks and put the new ones in the paint shop til I get ari=ound to painting them.   Sometimes I also remove the wheels and paint the truck sideframes as well.  I get lots of complements on the cars I have done this to.  If your mine cars do not have metal wheelsets, add them to add weight to the cars.  I have watched a 45 tonner pull 16 of these cars on good track with no problems!!

Hope this helps a little.........

:)  I too am happy to see this finally happen, I am having some problems accessing the diagrams as the drop downs do not seem to cover the underlying text leaving a double image look and I have trouble reading the drop downs.

Anyone else having problems?

I am with Scot, on this one and have used it for the same reason on my kitbashes.  I don't worry about the color contrast, since I give my kit bashes a coat of primer before final painting anyway.

Thanks for all the great responses, there are certainly a lot of great techniques out there and I love learning all the new tricks!!

Harvey,

If it doesn't run well, and is one of the electric powered 4-6-0 locomotives you could send it to Bachmann for repair.  Give them a call and dicuss the problem with them.  Ther is a fee involved, as I recall $25 and you will have to pay to ship it to them, they will pay return shipping.   Repairs can take awhile, depending on the backlog of repairs, but they do a fantastic job!   I have done it and was very satisfied!!

Good luck

Bachmann did offer a circus set radio controlled, just like the one you have.  There several different sets, not a lot different, but there were both the 27 mgz and 49 mhz transmitters & receivers in the locomotives. this allows 2 train operation on the same track.  Bachmann RC locomotives are sold on EBAY every week.  the ones with road numbers ending in 7 are 27 mgz and those ending in 9 are 49 mgz.  They go for very reasonable prices.

Happy railroading!!

Vince,

Height is 5&1/2 inches from rail to top of roofwalk, 4&3/8 inch from the top of the roofwalk to the bottom of the frame, Width Eave to Eave is 4&3/8 inch and the length is 15&3/4 inches not including the couplers.  Hope it helps!

Vic, You are right about the Sculpty figures, they are definitly cheap to make.  My problem is that I have absolutely no knack for making them.  One of my club   members who has a little talent compared to me, has made a whole set of custom circus figures that look really great!!!

Great Idea David!!

At $5 or 6 bucks per figure it is very expensive to fill a passenger car,  It is even worse whan you have to cut these expensive figures up just to get them to fit in a seat!!! :(

Jerry,

I definitely like that idea 8), because I still use track power and have that kind of system to recharge my sound system.  It is built into the sound card so I wouldn't know how to replicate it, but it is definitely something that could be done.

I agree with Matt and much prefer the battery powered lighting.   I was looking over the track powered cars and noticed that they come with metal handrails while the battery powered cars have the old plastic handrails.

I would love to see the metal handrails and battery powered lighting become the standard.

General Discussion / Re: Different Road Numbers
February 18, 2007, 10:08:40 AM
Ny vote goes to doing runs of 4 different numers, and all reruns of the same item in four different numbers.

I believe it would be a good business decision and increase sales!

Please.  Would definitely appreciate it!
