driving home today i noticed 2 NS engines with 1 heavy weight car and the front engine appeared to be a gp38 and the second engine appeared to be some sort of prototype engine painted brown high nosed gp38 but strangely it had a dip the cab and 6 wheel trucks i will post the photo as soon as possible

foam insulation sheets are good they can support a lot and we use them with our 3 loops on our Christmas layout so it is probably holding about 300 lbs. and it also can be cut into to hide wires and makes the snow look more real
19  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Re: New layouts (again) on: December 10, 2011, 11:44:00 PM
okay, so my dad and I ACTUALLY measured it, and it is 6X12. I think that's a really small space, isn't it?
that is good enough for the berkshire and the most common size for small layouts is a table that is 4x8 if you want some great info on small layouts search Jerome & southwestern from 1984 it is pretty small but has a lot of area for buildings and track still.
20  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Re: UN-Assembled Locomotive kits. Who else would like to assemble thier own? on: December 10, 2011, 10:38:12 AM
i would. sounds fun because the mdc engines i have were fun to put together.
21  Discussion Boards / HO / Re: Is E-Z Track a good way to get started in the hobby? on: December 10, 2011, 10:30:58 AM
yes but use nickel silver it looks better and is more conductive + less cleanings
22  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: Problem with the locomotive of Summit Pass on: December 05, 2011, 11:13:49 PM
if you clean it and it still doesn't work check to make shure it is wired properly but do not take anything else apart and if not just send it in to the kind folks at the bachmann service department.

25  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: 2012 Large Scale Product Wish List on: December 05, 2011, 09:48:05 PM
i would like to see  more flying rio grande paint schemes on all cars and engines and a porter similair to the one availeble in On30. ill also take any rio grande C style consolidation or a small T-boiler shay.
26  Discussion Boards / HO / Re: Locomotive/rolling stock Suggestion topic. (Maybe for the future of Bachmann)? on: December 04, 2011, 02:17:08 AM
2 truck shays and climaxes and a "westernized" spectrum quality 4-4-0
27  Discussion Boards / On30 / Re: On30 Passenger Cars - Has Bachmann Quit Making Them? on: December 04, 2011, 02:14:34 AM

28  Discussion Boards / On30 / Re: Just for fun - what's your favorite Bachmann On30 locomotive? on: December 04, 2011, 02:08:48 AM
the shay and the 2-8-0 but they both have there problems. I'm sad that the 2-8-0 has a 22 max radius because i got it just for my 18" radius Christmas mega layout. but then again now i have the great little shay.

That's odd because my consolidation has run OK on my little 4x8 layout which has some 18" radius snaptrack curves on the inner loop. I did put the snap track down carefully, and I used the aluminum "sweep" track gauges from Ribbonrail to be sure I didn't get any kinks in the curve. If you can find the room, try putting a section (or 2/3 of a section which works out to 15 degrees) of 22" snap track at the beginning and exit of your 18" radius curves to act as a sort of poor man's easements, it might help.

Of course, I don't run any of my locos at high speeds, especially through the curves. Usually it runs just a bit faster than minimum speed, which seems more realistic.

Bill in FL
what i meant was I have a 2-8-0 that's headlight never worked even after i checked the front wires but it still runs at slow speeds on our Christmas 18" radius but it still is fine it will be running with the along with the shay and 2 standard gauge loops of O scale with a Santa Fe super chief Lionel and a Christmas steam Lionel.

nice idea it is one of the less remebered rail trucks i believe another one that would be good would be silverton northern "Casey Jones" which was another one of otto mears great rail trucks like RGS #1 IC or the galloping geese
