General Discussion / Re: Bachmann Engines

no problem with my Hornby Elite with Select walk around (DCC) on Bachmann (the Hornby system has bad reports - I find its not too good/happy with MRC decoders)

hi , light mountain in Southern livery ...

160 mm cow catcher to rear of tender
175 mm coupler to coupler (dummy front - Bachmann EZ buckeye tender)

hope this helps -

also worth a mention big loco's like the Bachmann Centennial DD40AX
wont revolve full circle on the Atlas TT , as the coupler/pilot catches the motor/gearbox housing on the turntable .

hi - I am in UK , and have all the new 00/H0 Bachmann Thomas , Toby is the noisy engine  , maybe because of the box like body acting as a sound box , it is a nice slow (on analog DC) runner apart from the 'whine'

I have run in but not lubed/oiled yet.

also of note , when compared to the Hornby Toby it is a better smaller size , also Bill & Ben in Hornby are wider than Hornby's Toby .

General Discussion / Re: Different couplers
February 18, 2021, 04:04:25 PM
good old Bachmann - remiss of the past - white box and before era  ;D

when they bought a lot of smaller (life like and others) model railroad manufactures out  , and the couplers

was at all different heights , it now looks like they are shoving it into train sets  ???

Bachmann have pulled their socks up over the past couple of years , although their N scale stuff still suffers split gears

Bachmann please catalogue some HO/00 scale people from the Thomas series

Thomas & Friends / Re: Thomas & Friends Ideas

Bachmann please keep the coupling the same --- Gordon's coach's - Annie/Clarabelle and others  use old Mainline/Bachmann (UK) coupler . but I notice Toad brake van and other stock use NMRA smaller coupler (UK) but the hook on the older coupler do not enter the loop on the smaller version - thus when cornering the unattached hook throw's/derails the attached wagon/car ?

this is a kids toy and kids love speed and NO derailments

thank you .

Bachmann get new models out quickly and stop causing confusion and delay  ;D

not into Thomas but looking thru' Hornby (UK) new loco for 2021 - as they used to manufacture Thomas (you know the rest  ;D )

I notice they have used both the 4 and 6 wheel Thomas loco as industrial loco's and Percy also been used as a industrial loco

that's manufacturers - get rid of existing stock ,

happy modeling guy's

Bachmann maybe slow to respond with the virus thing'y   ;D  on the prowl , I saw some where they are not accepting order in present times  ,  I know the clip locations for the 6 pin N scale plug in - but not for the 8 pin (HO ?)

Thomas & Friends / Re: tidmouth turntable

do you have to wire each exit track separate with its own switch ?

my turntable (Atlas) is DCC and half of the tracks are wired +/- and the other half  -/+ the feed track is +/- , the motion of the table reverses polarity (hope this makes sense ?)

I model both N and HO (not Thomas) my local shop (in UK) has a Thomas set (HO) in stock and its very tempting so when they open on Tuesday ......

happy modeling guy's for 2021

General Discussion / Re: Reversing Loops on Layout
December 30, 2020, 03:15:39 PM
hi ferroequinologist , on my layout the main line is long and at either end is a reverse loop , both are operated by 0ne reverse module

as long as the train & engine are out of the loop it will work ( my DCC is Hornby but make is no matter ) several loops

nigefan --- I believe the Bachmann A4 class (UK) is the old Trix/Lilliput model ?

it may be worth looking up Trix - I stand to be corrected
