1  Discussion Boards / N / Re: Powering turnouts? on: April 10, 2019, 03:36:23 PM
Out of the factory, the turnout motor and included toggle switch can only be powered by fixed voltage on the accessory terminals of an analog power supply.  To use with DCC, you would need to connect the turnout motor wires to a stationary decoder (i.e. Digitrax DS64) with a control system that supports turnout operation in DCC.  Hope this helps.

2  Discussion Boards / N / Re: N Scale Manual Turnouts on: October 19, 2016, 02:36:36 PM
On all E-Z Track turnouts, there is a slider to manually throw or close the points.  Unfortunately,  There are no separate-sale manual-only turnouts available for E-Z Track in N scale at the moment.

But a piece of advice; for future purchases, don't buy any more steel track, only buy n/s track.

Also If you connect to another manufacturer's track piece, preferably with Nickel-silver rails.  Make sure they are CODE 100.  Bachmann E-Z Track uses CODE 100 Rails.
4  Discussion Boards / N / Re: Bachmann Streamlined Pax Cars (w/EZ-mate coupling) on: October 04, 2016, 01:35:05 PM
I have no experience with these cars, but passenger cars with body-mounted couplers are incompatable with passenger cars with truck-mounted couplers.  Truck-mounted couplers are the industry standard for N-scale passenger cars.

I have converted one passenger car with body-mounted couplers to truck-mounted couplers, with less than satisfactory results.  Very short head-end cars with body-mounted couplers will work with cars with truck-mounted couplers.

If the truck pivot is close enough to the end of the car, trucks with mounted couplers might be used.  Underbody details may need to be moved or cut away to provide swing clearance.

Ok.  Thanks.  Info sounds sensible to me.  Another fact is that weight distribution and balance is another important factor.
5  Discussion Boards / E-Z App / Re: Reversing loops with EZ app on: September 30, 2016, 04:56:39 PM
If Reverse Loops are being used, I would stroungly recommend using a constant DCC Signal for your layout, since an EZ-App/Bluerail equipped engine can be powered on a DCC Line since these engines are designed to operate independent of other trains and at a constant voltage.

Hope this helps,

6  Discussion Boards / N / Bachmann Streamlined Pax Cars (w/EZ-mate coupling) on: September 30, 2016, 04:51:54 PM
Since the current catalogue says that the N scale Fluted, Streamlined Passenger Carriages have body Mounted knuckle couplers, what is the safest minimum radius for operation at slow speeds? FYI, I have a layout with a minimum turning radius of 11 inches. and i am considering upgrading a consist to body-mount Coupling.

7  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: BACHMANN LARGE SCALE POWER PACK No.44213 on: August 03, 2016, 04:16:59 PM
It's safe.  This unit is for large scale.  It is not DCC compatible.

I was wondering how or why the controller is not DCC compatible.  Is it because it is not compatible with the E-Z command system?  or is it not safe to run large scale engines with Dual-mode DCC decoders onboard as well?

Was responding to the OP, not you. The mail cars do look cartoon-ier in MRR+, the big proportions give that away.

If OP wants a better luggage car for Flying Scotsman, there are LNER alternatives. Tongue
Okay.  Good to know. Thanks.

I see.  But can they be used as baggage cars if needed?
10  Discussion Boards / Thomas & Friends / Sodor/UK Mail Cars on: May 26, 2016, 05:19:33 PM
I have a few pieces of HO/OO British Rolling Stock and some Steam Engines.  Are the mail cars similar to baggage cars in terms of construction, except that mail cars have postal service markings as per the UK Prototype?  Because i was thinking of adding one to a Flying Scotsman Set I acquired.

11  Discussion Boards / E-Z App / Re: E-Z App DC Mode Compatibility on: April 18, 2016, 04:22:22 PM
There is no pulse switch on the controller but when initially starting up, There is a slight pulse hum to the motor on any DC engine. so it may have some pulse involved at low voltage. but it is not PWM i think.  Every 0-16 Volt controller i have that has a little more power than the bachmann controller does have a little pulse hum when starting up at first.  The pulsed startup is for slow-speed OPs on DC Locos.

(Look for the Tech 4 which i have)

Until the board can handle MRC Tech 2, 4 & 7 series in DC Mode,  I will just run them off the Bachmann 44212 controller if i use DC mode, and use the other controllers when in BLUETOOTH mode which is fine for now.

12  Discussion Boards / E-Z App / E-Z App DC Mode Compatibility on: April 13, 2016, 07:23:01 PM
I have an EZ-App engine  Enabling DC mode works well with the Bachmann Controller #44212 after cycling the direction a few times.  Then I tried it with an MRC Tech 2-1400 Power Pack and a Kato Power Pack.  The DC-Mode didn't Enable itself.  If it was enabled with the Bachmann Controller,  It would only Run Backwards in DC mode on the MRC and Kato DC controllers.  It ran both directions off the bachmann controller just fine.  Hopefully a firmware update will improve compatibility with other DC controllers.  By the way, the firmware was updated before testing.

Just wanted to point that out there for Bachmann and Bluerail Trains to make a note of.

Feel Free to Try the following:
Set CV128 to Zero to turn sound off if you want to run DC without Sound.  It runs better silent than with sound on DC Mode.  I only recommend the sound enabled if u plan to use DCC.
14  Discussion Boards / N / Re: Problems with brand new DCC-Sound SD45 on: December 14, 2015, 02:52:16 PM
To run in DC-Mode, Try using a DCC interface to Turn off the sound by setting CV128 to 0.  I tried that with a Bachmann DCC Sound Engine such as a 2-8-4 and It doesnt stall as much in DC mode with the sound OFF.  Set CV 128 to a number between 1 and 255 when you are ready to run with sound in DCC mode.  Hope This helps.

Santa Fe Old-Time passenger coach and combine for the upcoming ATSF 4-4-0,
Matching Old-time passenger cars for CP Jupiter and UP 119,
                         Durango and Silverton Excursion Car
Full Dome Cars in Princess Cruises Livery (great addition to McKinley Explorer Train)

                      International School Bus
                      Greyhound Bus
                      Winnibago and other popular RV's.

I would also like to see a lineup of airport accessories in N scale since they are only available in O scale.
