Unsolder the 2 wires from the speaker on the decoder. Tape them up. No more sound.

HO / Re: Sound value FA-1 settings?

On the different sound volumes, try a value of 60. If this is too low, add 10 and try again. Keep doing this until you have the level you like. I do the 6' test: stand about 6' away from loco, sound should be barely heard.    Joe

The sound value decoders do not have reverb or the equalizer. list of CVs default values: https://soundtraxx.com/content/Reference/Factory-Installed/Bachmann/SoundValue/ho_fa2_sv.pdf
Some call them a cut down version of the Tsunami. They are not. They are made by Soundtraxx to Bachmanns specs.

I say the B+/B- is for the rear light on the tender.    Joe

I use Soundtraxx, others Loksound or TCS. On the DD40AX, is it the one with the pancake motor? Better check current draw on it. Most HO decoders are for 1 or 2 AMP stall current. Soundtraxx has a  4 amp decoder, but it might be too large for an HO engine.    Joe

The DB210 is a booster only. You need a booster/command station. How many locos will you run? The Zephyr might be the way to go. Or the EVO Evolution Advanced. The AR1 is fine for auto reverse  loops, but I use DCC Specialties OG/AR. The LNWI should allow  your tablet to act as a throttle. On the EVO system, you need the DT500 throttle to turn the system on and off.

Looks like the 36-520 is the European version of the 44910. Not sure if interchangeable because of different power input.    Joe

Check the 2  wire plugs that go into the tender. Make sure both are secured in place.   Joe

Remove fuel tank. Should be 2 screws, one on each side diagonal from each other. Remove couplers lift off body. Sounds like an electrical contact problem.     Joe

The wipers on this engine are bent and it works fine until it passes over some switches and shorts.  This sounds like a switch problem. Maybe the frog. What brand of switches? Does it do it on all? Or just some. Do you have any other locos ? Do any of them short out on the switches? What DCC system do you use?  Joe

These look like Chinese knock offs of the MRC decoders. You get what you pay for.   Joe

Look at diagram. 2 screws 10489 X2 should be removed to get the shell of. On front of tender.   Joe
