556  Discussion Boards / HO / Re: EZ DCC Command and Sound? on: December 16, 2007, 12:53:16 AM
Let me expand on the sound control with the Bachman EZ Command. I purchased a set of Athern Genesis F3A with DCC and Sound. Together on the track they would shut the system down - no sound no movement . I checked them out on a friends layout and they worked fine .Individually they worked fine with my EZ command. After I increased the power they would run fine . I am running them with same address because that was the intention when purchased. I am also running an Athern Challenger with DCC and sound.some of the functions don't match the standard eg. function #8 which should turn of the sound but turns on the whistle and horn at the same time . Is it the loco or the EZ Command.A comment from Mr. Bachman would be appreciated.

The answer is yes , but only one loco at a time . The power supply is not big enough for more than one loco. There are some loco's whose sound and dcc control current draw is more than the contoller and 1 amp power supply can supply. What I have done is wired in a 3 amp Aristocraft power supply . The cost of the Bachman booster is more than the cost of a whole
Digitrax Zephyr. I don't know what Bachman's plan was but maybe Mr. Bachman can give us an answer. Don

Not true I have shifted and reballasted portions of my latout a couple of times. The ballast is only glued to the base of the layout and not to the track base. The next time you pull up your flex track to redo  your layout tell me how much track you can reuse and what it cost to replace all the track and ballast. There are some restrictions with EZ track and it is not for the purist or those who correct authenticitybut for those who just want to run model trains and just have some fun itis the answer.

Hi Sid .Where are you. I used a aristocraft 3 amp power supply in place of the power supply that came with EZ command which was totally inadequte except for running one Bachman locomotive with DCC and sound Add one more loco with DCC and sound and nothing. The extra amperage from the Aristo power supply made the difference.

My Bachman 2-10-2 with DCC runs very well on EZ track 18" curves and looks very good doing so.

I am afraid you won't satisfy the purists by using EZ track but you are building the layout for yourself no one else. The EZ track saved me a lot of time an fustration.

I started to build my layout code 100 flex track but after having a good look at EZ track I took out the flex track and built my whole layout with EZ track. There are some restrictions but what a time saver - no track bed to create and very little ballasting to do .It is relatively easy to use the standard bridges etc. I have had no problems with electrical conductivity and have not had to use any sort of buss bar set up. I am using both DC and DCC with no problems.

Always  make your purchases with a credit card Master Card- Visa etc..The credit card card will insure your purchase . If your purchase does not arrive in a reasonable length of time they wil refund your purchase amount. If the retailer is too far to drive to phone your order in and only purchase stock items. Also get the name of the person you are dealing with.

Bachman Mogul , 4-6-0 aniversary special,0-4-0 porter,-Aristocraft 2-4-2 will all run on 4'0 diam curves without problem. In fact most of the older type loco's with 6 drive wheels or less can be used.
