61  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Re: What Brand Turnouts for track on roadbed - NOT EZ Track on: March 23, 2009, 06:44:27 PM
I use the EZcommand track and the EZcommand remote turnouts operated with Atlas switches. I have had only one problem which was an installation problem. I am using 10 turnouts.

Before you do anything with the locos determine if there are any warranty issues . You don't want to have to try to deal with them later.

Just a note that not all multimeters include ammeters.

Brad
I used nails long enough to go into the plywood base and hold down the turnout  flat.

I run all EZ track and the only problem I experienced was derailing through a turnout . The turnout was slightly warped making one track higher than the other at the frog resulting in derailment . The solution was to fasten the turnout firmly to the base. Problem solved , no more derailments.

The best advice you could receive is READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND FOLLOW THEM BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. This will save you a lot of grief in the long run. If you do run into problems don't make assumptions as to the cause try to analyze the situation by process of elimination.
As the Bachman says Have fun.

I have 3 Hudsons. One is an IHC with CN markings , one comes from SuperStore with CN markings and one is Rivarossi streamlined with NYC maekings. I would sure love to have a Royal Hudson with DCC and sound.

Idid a bit of a review on the 2-10-4 in an earlier post .
It will not run on 18"curves . It is a bit noisy but not extremely so. The body is a direct copy of the one they mfg about 20 years ago . The power train is new and the  tender is new . I purchased mine on line and the price was reasonable at somewhere around $100.00.

Bob
I nail through the homasote and into the plywood . I make sure the nails are just long enough to penetrate the plywood and not very tight to avoid distortion of the track.

I have a 4-8-4  that runs fine on 18" curves but I am not a rivet counter.

Kaylon
nothing special is needed to connect EZtrack to regular track . Use regular couplers including the insulators.. You don'thave to run the  EZtrack through the bridges just connect the EZtrack to the bridges.

All my EZtrack is held down with nails iIf you don't use ones that too long they are easily removable.

The simulated airhose on the coupler may be catching on the frog when moving in that direction.
