16  Discussion Boards / HO / Re: Bachmann wheel sets do not fit Bachmann box cars? on: October 09, 2015, 02:07:34 PM
I just tried it again, the axle does not fit into a silver series box car. It fits but will not turn as the fit is too strong as the axle of the replacement wheelset is longer than the original one.
17  Discussion Boards / HO / Bachmann wheel sets do not fit Bachmann box cars? on: October 09, 2015, 01:42:26 PM
I have bought Bachmann 42904 wheel sets. Unfortunately these do not fit Bachmann 40`box cars. I tred to fit the wheel sets on for example Bachmann 17014 and 17032 box cars but the axles are a little bit wider than the original ones and therefore do not turn.
So what for are these wheesets good, what cars can be equipped with them? What are the Bachmann wheelsets for my Bachmann box and stock cars?
Bachmann, please advise!

Yardmaster, are the pictures of the 2-8-2 locos on the webstore photos of the final products? While the model looks really well made I am  a bit dissapointed not to see a red cab roof and red tender deck on the Pennsy version.

Now Bachmann has to do a USRA pacific.

Someone else has already made one recently.  Just like the USRA MacArthur.   Time to do Harriman engines, not redundunt models of something already offered very recently.

I, too want a Bachmann USRA pacific. I think it is not important whether a model has been done by another company as Bachmann is a bit different:
!) Bachmann tends to offer its locos for some years what makes it easiere to build a fleet. For example now I have 7 sound value Bachmann F7, not bought at the same time. When funds allow I will add one or more F7B units. Some companies force me to pre order and buy at once or risk the chance not getting the ABBA consist I want.
2) I love to play with my trains and run them a lot. So spare parts sometimes are necessary. I have never experienced a company that made it easier fot me to get spare parts.
3) Value/detail/sturdiness - while there are locos available with more detail on them for me Bachmann look good enough and I do not have to search the layout for parts falling from locos. Painting and lettering is fine. And sound value locos are great value for money.

So whenever possible I stick with Bachmann and only buy locos not available from Bachmann. I even waited for the 2016 Bachmann announcement until I ordered my first Alco PA, my favorite diesel as I hoped Bachmann could do it but Bachmann brought the E7. Unfortunately the Santa Fe did not have the foresight to order E7 but I hope that Bachmann will use the chassis and in the next years we will see E6 and E8.

I would like to see a range of locos that are offered as basic models with good mechanism and basic generic detail that are affordable offered in standard range and the same model as Spectrum with road specific details.

For example:
USRA heavy pacific offerd as generic model with basic detail in different roadnames and unlettered offered in standard range.
The same loco offered as ERIE K5A in the Spectrum range.

A pet hate of mine is the lottery wheter the roadname I want is sound value of just DCC fitted. I only buy sound value locos and would prefer unfitted locos if no sound value version is offered.
For modelers not wanting DCC or wanting full spec sound decoders DCC  ready is fine. For beginner not wanting to fiddle with decoder or modeler on tight budeget sound value is fine. So please offer all locos as DCC ready and sound value.

Not much excitement .... Hope they don't cancel the run.........
It is hard for me to get excited after comparing the $257.00 price of the ALCO 2-6-0 - DCC Sound Value with the $399.00 price of the BALDWIN 52" DRIVER 4-6-0 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE (DCC SOUND VALUE-EQUIPPED).
$142 for a leading axle more? I doubt that the real Santa Fe would have ordered a tenwheeler instead of mogul for that much money more!
I would have bought both a UP and a Santa Fe one but will probably buy only one. Or I could do as the prototype did -
save money by buying diesels.

I forgot that of lots of Bachmann models there are older and newer variants - I must be more precise with my questions in future.
What I am interested into is the latest incarnation, DCC fitted in the blue boxes. Bachmann produced these without flywheels probably as cost cutting measure with the thinking that the decoder provides "electric momentum". But is this sufficient? All the Bachmann locos I have are sound fitted with decoders providing momentum but still have flywheels. So the question is are flywheels still usefull for smoother running or just put into locos because in the pre digital we learned that flywheels are good and therefore still demand them despite being obsolete.

Hunt, thank you!
"Best" - what does it mean? Will it look good on 22 or greater but still run on 19 1/4 or is 22  the minimum. I intend it to run without a trailer could that make a difference?

What is the minimum radius the Bachmann Spectrum doodlebug can negotiate? I would like to use it but my minimum radius is just 19 1/4"
Is it DCC ready?

27  Discussion Boards / HO / Flywheel for FT on: August 16, 2015, 04:18:08 PM
I am interested into buying Bachmann FT locos. From the parts diagram I learned that the FTs are not fitted with a flywheel. I have Bachmann F7 locos that are fitted and run fine. Would it be difficult to fit the FT with a flywheel? Or can I just plug in a motor with flywheel from F7?
Or will it run fine as it is and flywheel will not have benefit?

I ordered mine form this shop, still in stock:

I use a Digitrax Zephyr to programm the locos but prefer the EZ command controller and companion to run the trains, easy to use and nice to hold.

Dear Bachmann, could you please post a foto of the loco on a 20" radius? I would like to see how this loco looks on smaller curves.
