1  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: Wanted: Bachmann 1:20.3 2 bay undec hopper on: March 10, 2019, 09:32:25 PM
Dear Southern Mike,
Ordinarily, we don't do want ads on the board, but I'll leave yours up for a day or so.
The upcoming East Coast Large Scale Train Show would be a good place to look if
you can make it to York, Pennsylvania.
Good luck!

2  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: 'New' center cupola D&RGW Caboose? on: March 07, 2019, 10:39:18 PM
Dear All,
Any time an Item is re-issued it gets a new Item No.,
hence it's listed as new.
In this case, it's the same caboose.
In the case of a locomotive, there are usually running changes.
Have fun!

4  Discussion Boards / Thomas & Friends / Re: Sir Topham Hatt and other scaled figurines on: March 07, 2019, 10:31:59 PM
Dear All.
Since we want younger fans to be able to have the
Thomas characters, the figures have to be large to
avoid being a choking hazard.
Happily they work great with Large Scale!
Have fun!

5  Discussion Boards / N / Re: Couplers on: March 04, 2019, 10:59:39 PM
Dear Wach,
There are several brands of magnetic couplers;
we, of course, hope you choose our EZ Mates.
Most cars will use center shank medium. As you
install them other needs will become intuitive.
Many people use a transition car with a new
coupler on one end; the car moving back through
the train as cars are converted.
Have fun!

Hi, Jim,
It looks like Floquil Pullman Green.
It may be a problem finding new stock as it
is no longer made...
Good Luck!

Dear Jim,
Try Krylon Hunter Green.
I don't have a C&S set handy, but that might be what I used for the prototypes.
Good luck!

11  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: G Scale Polar Express on: January 30, 2019, 11:36:37 PM
Dear All,
We had the Polar Express license early on, before the movie came out.
I had several discussions with Chris Van Allsburg about the colors
and other details of our narrow gauge version. In looking at the book illustrations
I based my colors on Lackawanna smooth sides, sort of a bluish-gray and maroon, but he insisted
(and as the author and illustrator he should know) that the cars were green and maroon.
Sure enough, if you look at the scene in the movie where conductor Tom Hanks is standing in the vestibule,
the walls are clearly green. The original prototype I painted is still on display in the library of the elementary
school at which I taught. The librarian recently called me to ask why one side was blue and the other green!
I'll try to get over to school in the next day or so to take a picture.
As to colors, I'll see if I can tell by looking at the models, as I don't recall which specific colors I used.
Have fun!

Dear Luca,
Remove the screw under the front tender truck.
This will allow you to gently pry up the shell to slip the yoke between the body and the shell.
