If it's similar to other brands of Code 100 flex track, I've used of for 9" radius curves on trolley lines.

Bummer. No Bangor and Aroostook, even though they had a bunch of them. Oh, well.

HO / Re: Glue/Epoxy a Loose Gear
February 13, 2024, 08:04:59 PM
If the gear is not split, I've had some luck using Loc-Tite Red 271 to keep loose gear in place on the shaft. While the gear is out of place, put a drop of Loc-Tite on the shaft and slide the gear back into place. I normally let it set for 24 hours before trying to operate the loco again. Loc-Tite Blue 242, which isn't quite as strong as the Red, may also work if the loco and your trains aren't too heavy. But I've had it come loose under load on completely smoot shafts.

General Discussion / Re: Bachman Bookshelf Railroad

The "Bookshelf Railroad" was done by Parkway, not Bachmann. This is the passenger version:

The track included appears to be a simple oval.

QuotePoint 5 - Model electric trains, even Thomas & Friends, carry age 14+ recommendations.

This is a direct result of law suits brought in years gone past when young kids hurt themsselves, or others, through misuse of the product.

Maybe he wants to get them right to pull behind a Bachmann locomotive he's already determined has correct numbering.

HO / Re: Question Regarding Disassembly of HO K4
February 02, 2024, 07:13:09 PM
Looking at the exploded diagrams it appears the smoke box area of both versions of the K4 is already filled with weight. If the loco is jumping to switch frogs, more than likely the flangeway needs to be deepened. This is fairly easy to do with the edge of a jewelers flat file. Vacumn up the filings before running trains though.

Quote from: Lildog on January 19, 2024, 07:12:49 PMI have several new R. and L. Turnouts  and cross overs just getting back into railroading can these be used for DCC CENTER frogs are metal

This site has a lot of info on what makes a turnout 'DCC Friendly', or not. And how to deal with the ones that are not.

General Discussion / Re: Scenery LED Lights
January 23, 2024, 06:54:51 PM
If you're comfortable doing your own soldering, and understand using dropping resistors with LEDs, it's a lot cheaper to do it yourself. You also have a bit more flexibility in which LEDs to use, e.g., yellow for an incandescent bulb look, white for situations where fluorescent tubes would be used.

In flickr if you right click on the image, then click 'inspect' the details of the image come up. You'll see links to the small version of the .jpg file and the large version. Clink on the 'large' line, then right click and select 'open link in new tab'. Go to that tab and copy the URL, which should be: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53474461709_2850a3e94d_k.jpg

Put that between the img tags and you should get this in your post:

Getting a "URL Not Found" error on that link. If you put the complete URL between [i m g] [/i m g] tags, without the spaces, the pic should show up in your post. You can use the "PREVIEW" button to see if it works.

Krylon clear matte finish in a spray can works well. And you get almost 3 times as much for less than a can of Dullcote sold for.

General Discussion / Re: dcc to dc
January 18, 2024, 05:11:01 PM
Be advised that when operated with a DC power pack the decoder will "eat" around 5 volts before the loco starts moving. So the throttle position will be higher than with a straight DC loco. If the rest of your locos are straight DC, you might want to replace the decoder with a dummy plug if it's connected via an 8-pin sockt.
