I use block control but that is not a problem, soldering experience is something I have as well but as it will be placed in the garage, the expansion and contraction is not something I had thought of, would it work if the gaps to allow for this were every few pieces? The problem I have is that I use a lot of older stock and locos therefore the smoother the track the better.

Hello, after a long absence i have returned, i am doing the final planning for the layout i have decided on (took awhile) I was Thing, might it be possible to solder the rail of each section of track to one another like they do on current lines in real life for a smoother rail and a better electrical connection.

It still had temporary decals but after rewireing the loco to be straight dc, painting it, and fixing the drive, it is almost done! My bachmann gp40 (Formally conrail) is now nj transit! It does not yet have lights but i am planning on front, back, and a strobe for it.

i have an old gp40 bachmann. it had a pc board with a decoder but that is gone now, i was going to just wire the picups to the motor but will it wreck it? i am wondering if the board had something

That problem is why i did it, i realized that while cool, the short tracks were useless and inefficient so i basically redid it all and it came out great, sometimes you have to see it to know it won't work. i will post a new picture tommorow.

the back part will be for storage and for completing the mainline, the small random looking tracks are going to be in buildings as i was planing on making it a yard/service area.

My layout is designed to be expandable as it is sectional. right now i plan on having 4 sections for now, 2 of which have track. Here it is:

If you have any suggestions feel free to say so, this is my first real layout and I am exited. ( I started this week)
