1  Discussion Boards / Large / Re: 'New' D&RGW Large Scale Trains in 2011 catalogue question? on: April 09, 2011, 11:42:44 AM
I bet the D&RG caboose is the same as the D&RGW minus the "Western" like what they did with the Durango & Silverton equipment.

I am also very interested in this information aswell I'm allways looking for new D&RGW 1:22.5 equipment! I got both the Durango & Silverton sets and relettered everything for D&RGW plus I did up an undecorated annie as D&RGW 4-6-0 175 so my loco roster is 175. 177, 178 & 179 next I would like to do another undecorated annie as 176 black with a green boiler jacket!

I dont really use the Bachmann Cabeese I mostly use USA trains long cabeese and MDC short cabeese the Bachmann bobber caboose just seem a little big for the rest of the 1:22.5 equipment

If the D&RG caboose looks nice though I could see myself picking one up along with a D&RG Annie... would be nice if they also did a few other D&RG freight cars.

As far as the numbering goes I like to think that in the bachmann universe the white pass loco's share the same numbers as the D&RG loco's because thats where they came from  Tongue

You have to pay attention.  After the first issue of the K-27 it was announced by a customer that the counter weights were loose.  This was brought to the attention of Bud Reese at Bachmann, with in ten days those replacement counterweights were available for shipment to those who needed them.

Contact Bachmann service for replacements of you counterweights, hopefully there will be some available.

Oh I knew about it, I even waited untill they were saposed to be corrected on new locomotives but still managed to get a loco from the first run with the bad counteweights. My K27 is a shelf queen so I never really saw it as much of an issue because it hardly ever gets run  Embarrassed

I have a K27 (464) that I got from the first run it still has bad counter weights and now the smoke unit stopped working. I dont know if the warranty stuff ever got taken care of my father says he thinks he sent it in but cant remember (I dont even remember asking!) and we dont know what happened to any of the paperwork unless its still in the box havent checked there yet  Undecided

So I guess the question is what do I need to do to go about getting my locomotive fixed, I dont care if it cost money as long as its alot less than a new one  Tongue

The color your looking for is "Rio Grande Gold" I asked the same question a while back and was told a floquil color was used and after some looking doesnt seem like they make it any more. If you find some in a rattle can let me know im still looking too!

so its okay to have more cars on a level grade? People allways tell me dont run more than 5 cars I guess there talking about on grades? Allways thought I would kill my loco's if I ran all my passenger equipment in a single consist! I even installed pilot couplers on all my 4-6-0's so I can doublehead to pull more cars lol  Tongue

Just need to keep an eye on ebay, custom made plows for 4-6-0's pop up every now and again. I got this one a couple years ago it seems to be made for Bachmann 4-6-0's as it securely clips right onto the pilot after removing the front coupler then it (coupler) can then be reused as the plows coupler though I used a Kadee

They make up for being shorter by being a little taller & wider  Wink

The only thing you really need for the ozark railings is the brass rod for the brake that you can get at just about any hobby/craft shop. I ended up leaving the stock bachmann observation end and drum, though I did make a few changes  Grin

As cool as an outside frame Forney would be if I were to ever buy a forney (which i probly wouldnt) it would be an LGB... heck I could get 3 LGB forneys for the price of one of these thats crazy. Plus its 1:20 and I swore up and down after I bought my bachmann K27 I would never buy anything else in 1:20... unless ofcorse I can find a good deal on a connie to bash into a 1:22 K27 hahaha Grin

A K28 would be very nice but only if its in 1:22 not 1:20!   Cheesy

Ive already invested way to much time and money into 1:22 equipment, I own a Bachmann 1:20 K27 and it is and will be the only piece of 1:20 equipment I own... Oh and it will get sold if I can get my hands on a 1:22 LGB K28

More than enough 1:20 2-8-2's already out there Bachmann should come out with somthing in 1:22 before LGB does (fingers crossed they will!)

Sir - Bachmann are now totally committed to the correct scale to gauge ratio afforded by 1/20.3.  The 1/22.5 'scale' is effectively correct only for meter gauge.  It is the generally accepted view that LGB will never produce an American NG locomotive of any kind again.  The K-27 they sold was made by Aster, BTW, NOT LGB.  The White Pass mike had LGB motor and chassis, but everything else made of metal was Aster.

tac

Yeah I know who made them the long gone LHS from my area had a few. Every place I have ever seen them forsale they were listed as and stocked with LGB products so im just going to go with LGB.

As far as LGB not making any more American NG Loco's you better contact Walthers I dont think they got that memo and have quite a few american NG loco's listed as will be in stock anywhere from later this month on some to September on others.

With Bachmann putting more effort into there 1:20 stuff (except the long caboose) and less into there 1:22 Big Hauler stuff that just lets Walthers dominate the 1:22 market with there overpriced LGB stuff...

So let me get this straight...  If I want a locomotive other than a 4-6-0 I will have to pay Walthers jacked up prices for LGB or start over from scratch with the "Correct Scale" (1:20) from Bachmann that conveniently cost quite a bit more.... Oh but its cheeper than Accucraft so its gotta be a great deal!

What would be the best paint to use to match the colors used by Bachmann on the "Grande Gold" D&RGW Jackson Sharp coaches (89791-4) and also D&RGW Boxcar's (93318)  Huh?
