:o  Did a Google search model railroad clubs near joliet, il and came up with couple possibilities. While there (at google) was another hit that went to the NMRA site with list of clubs from A to Z.

Good luck....

He does not know what he does not know!

Go to atlasrr.com and click on the Beginners tab for basic info. Right next to that is the Layouts tab. That will have a dropdown and click on Wiring. That will give you a primer to help get you started. They also have their current (yep) wiring books that you can order or pickup at LHS or online.
Also go to NMRA.org and scroll down to section on their 'Introduction to Model Railroading'. Again basics are taught.
Currentsolutions.com has a glossary in their Knowledge base tab that may be helpful.
Google/Yahoo search model railroad wiring and learn from that.

Gene~Exclamation point or question mark after 'Tuesday'?

What about Alley-Gainey? A cross between a 'gator' and Gainesville, FL.

Or Loseraina? Or Loser State University?

Or pronounce the capital of Kentucky..Louis ville or Louie ville?

Anacoco, Loseraina

Have you taken into consideration the Union thugs who have to load and unload the loads? Time delays for coffee breaks/lunch and then strikes and meetings?  :D
Have you thought about double stacks and piggy backs? Especially at dockside with loading on/off ships.

Just my thoughts to enhance your program.

General Discussion / Re: Chinese lead paint concerns

I understand that no Bachmann products were involved in the recall. And I also realize that we have a certain amount of responsibility to watch over ourselves, family, friends and visitors. My post asked if we should be concerned with the possibility that Bachmann's Chinese manufacturers are not using any lead based paints. And are the quality/safety controls up to your high standards?

General Discussion / Chinese lead paint concerns
August 02, 2007, 11:30:20 PM
Greetings,
A lot of us have little ones around our layouts at one time or another. And we pretty much know that there is a tendency for things to be placed inside mouths that we may or may not have been aware of. Should we be concerned that the makers/painters of Bachmann products in China are lead free? Mattel/Fisher-Price have the most stringent product safety process and yet they are having to recall from 1 to 1.5 million toys with lead paint made in China.

Believe this was caused by a switch that went bad or someone was not paying attention.

General Discussion / Re: Track Ideas
July 13, 2007, 08:41:16 PM
Most everyone will tell you that Bmann won't be making a turntable anytime soon. Consensus may be that folks use the Atlas turntable which they are able to adapt to EZTrack. EZTrack up til about 2" from turntable, then use Atlas or other type track from EZT to turntable edge. Have to raise other track so as to be level. May also be able to trim back some of the EXT roadbed enough to get a good fit to the turntable. But probably better and smarter ideas from the forum will come your way.
Could you specify size of planned layout to help others determine how to help you?

You may also need to weigh each of your cars. NMRA.org has a lot of info that you can use, dealing with all kinds of things model trains related.
As a side thought, you may want to invite your local hobby shop guru over to make a house call. Maybe work out a 'swap deal'. You buy the parts and they show how to make it run right and you let them visit on occasion.
