1  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Re: help with a smoke unit on: February 11, 2016, 11:42:48 PM
To actually ANSWER the question

if your loco is a 0-6-0 , 2-6-0 or 2-6-2 with a smoke unit it should be a simple matter of take old unit out then insert the new smoke unit.

Here is an explosion chart of  0-6-0,2-6-0, 2-6-2 the only difference being the lead and trail trucks.

replacement smoke units here

I will not waste my time in any debate about the pros and cons or opinions of smoke.

Your layout, you run it the way YOU like. Cool

Has anyone purchased the latest version of this loco and what are your opinions of it?
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

I own one.
The 1st thing I noticed about it is the weight, this is Heavy for a model loco its size.
Seems to be a good puller.
Good runner too so far no complaints.
Details are good enough to please my eye.
Would I buy another ?   Yes.

and then Again,,,,
If you have a large fleet of horn hook rolling stock, it would be more cost effective to just install horn-hook couplers on a new loco or two.
If you enjoy casual continuous running the horn-hooks still work well for that.
If you are into serious switching operations, knuckles are the way to go.

Conversion Cars, already mentioned in earlier posts work well too.
