Everyone has their favorite system.  If you are near some clubs go see what they use.  Go to the local train shows and see what people use on the layouts.

I have been using NCE for many years and  I am happy with their products.  Many people are happy with the Bachmann systems.  The same can be said for every system on the market.

There are a number of other systems on the market.  Ram Track has their Strip Led.  I have seen others but I do not recall the names.

33  Discussion Boards / Large / V & T #25 4-6-0 on: August 14, 2016, 08:34:29 AM
A friend has the V & T #25 he just acquired used.  Can someone tell us which version of the 4-6-0 it is so he can make some choices on DCC or Radio Control and he knows what is related to his loco on the available information on the web site.

The new record was set!  The Outside Line / Red Line mileage was 15.6 Scale Miles.

35  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / WGH Show San Antonio T-Trak Layout on: February 09, 2016, 03:56:45 PM
At the WGH show in San Antonio, TX, Feb 20 and 21, a group of Clubs and individuals coordinated by the San Antonio N Scale Club, SANTRAK, hope to set a new record for the longest continuous T-Trak Red Line in excess of 12 scale miles.  At the present time the record is 10.08 scale miles.

The layout will have 9 separate T-Trak Yellow Lines that should total close to that length as well.

Will let you know the final results.

Yes, the AR 1 will work with large scale.

Start here for what I am talking about:

The boards that you can use are available from multiple sources.  Everyone you talk to will have a favorite.
Digitrax makes the AR1.  Tam Valley Depot makes a 'Frog Juicer'/Auto-Reverser.  DCC Specialties makes the OG-AR and PSX-AR.  Lenz makes the LK200.  MRC makes the AD520.  I know there are others, I just can not find them real quick.

The SB5 IS NOT and auto reverse unit.  You needed to isolate the reverse loops and add proper auto reverse boards to each loop.

You might want to look at the Lenz web site.

They have online manuals for all their products.

I have replaced the plastic wheels with Bachmann metal ones and put Bachmann coupler's on them.  This works on most but not all of the Aristo cars I have.

You should not have any problems with what you plan to do.

Which DCC system are you using?  What scale trains are you running.  What is the current draw needed?

Most systems will handle several locomotives on the same or different tracks.  With the answers to the above questions we will be able to help you.

Most manufactures of DCC decoders have a Decoder Selector on their sites.  You enter the Scale, Loco Manufacture, Loco Model and they give you a recommended decoder.

There are many good web sites to learn about the basics of DCC:

NCE has what they call the Mini Panel that will do what you want with any of the NCE systems.   You will need some block detectors which they also sell.

If you wish to do it with a computer they also have a USB interface.

A number of DCC systems have available USB or other interfaces to connect computers to them.  NCE, Digitrax, Lenz, and ESU I know have them.
