Back about 1950 I went to the  Frisco roundhouse in Oklahoma City.  I walked in and here was 5 or 6  Frisco decapods.  They were overhauling them.  I thought why are they doing all that work on these.  It turn out that they were selling them to mining company in Northeast ok, and southeast Ks.

I don't know, to me that is as clear as mud.  What part do you need replaced?

THANK YOU to all those who have visited here, at Harold Minkwitz's – I know my husband Harold loved sharing his ideas on 'the hobby', and it is with great sorrow that I announce his death on March 26, 2020. His creative, often non-traditional ideas (one example: “fake fur grass”) will remain on this website for another year. I know he would have wanted that.

During this time, I will also be making an inventory of his many trains, enormous collection of tools, books and magazines to offer for sale. It may be a while before anything is ready for new homes though; there are 30-plus years of “stuff” down in the basement.

If there are any specific items you might be interested in, in the meantime, please let me know and I can provide photos via e-mail.

Well my guess is I have 25 cars and they all have X couplers and I don't want to change.   Over the years I have changed couplers 4 or 5 times.  It was just part of the game.  THere may some day be a better coupler than KD but I will not change again.

The only locomotive I have with a pancake motor, which I don't run anymore. It would not run, I could just flip the spring that holds the brushes, and it would take off and run.

The only mainline railroad near Westville, Arkansas is the Union Pacific.  Coal trains can and do have just about any railroad units.

When I was a kid I never saw a diesel until I was almost 12 years old.  The train I was on had a diesel until we got to Oklahoma City.  I didn't see another one until after the war.  Places like Steam town is a good place to see what steam was like.  They run steam locomotives but they don't really work steam locomotives.
they don't pull 80-90 car trains or run 80 or 90 MPH.

Well maybe the Scenic Express product is safe to eat and the Bachmann product is not.  If you eat the Bachmann trees you may get cancer.

Just go with the Kadee coupler with pockets and be done with it.

In side of roundhouses was a big blackboard.  on this blackboard was a line for each track.  On this line was written information on needed repairs that needed to be made.  So you do the same thing.  If you only have 6 locomotive you just assign to a track and that is it.
