were the 18 ft. gondolas ever released in a gray paint scheme?

Are the sides on the 18 ft gondola removable?
This would make this a 18 ft. flat car.

I was going to start a new layout and was going to go On30 but if Bachmann is dropping out of that market then I should look at different options
