1  Discussion Boards / General Discussion / Display/Test Stand Rollers - E-Z Riders(TM) on: January 10, 2020, 03:51:13 PM
I saw the Display/Test Stand Rollers on Walthers site.  It gives a Bachmann part number for them, but I haven't been able to find them on Bachmann's site.  I was hoping that these would be something that I can use to test engines and other powered cars without actually putting them on a track.  Can anyone tell me how these work?  Can they be used to operate an engine while it is in one place, i.e. not rolling on a track?
2  Discussion Boards / HO / HO House under construction on: February 22, 2019, 06:51:53 PM
I've been looking for an HO house under construction for my set-up.  Walthers and others used to have them, but I've searched recently and not found anything like this in anyone's catalog.  Any suggestions where I can find a kit?  If not I'd like to scratch build.  In that case are there any plans available that I can download?
3  Discussion Boards / HO / Bull Frog Snot on: December 13, 2018, 06:29:35 PM
I've got a jar of Bull Frog Snot that has thickened so that I cannot apply it to loco wheels without getting lumps.  Is there any way to thin it?  If the answer is "no", then where's a good place to get traction wheels for HO locos?

OK I see how the internal switch on the turn-out works, but I also see on the package that the turnout came in that it says not to connect the frog if running DCC, hence the need for the juicer.  I have one turnout that is giving me fits.  The fixed rail on the turnout is not connected to the main rails.  On all of my other turnouts, even the ones with plastic frogs, both of the fixed rails in the turnout are electrically connected to the main rails.  I can't see anything different on this one, just that my VOM shows an open circuit, and its only on the straight rail, the curved turn-out fixed rail shows that it is electrically connected to the main rails.  Any idea why this is and how to fix it?

My system is DCC (Digitrax).  I had been having problems with locomotives shorting when I powered the frogs, and stalling when I didn't power the frogs, that's why I got the juicer.  So, if I understand, I should connect the black wire to both the juicer and leave it connected where it connects under the wiring housing.  Correct?

I recently bought 2 hex frog juicers from Fast Tracks.  Iím using Bachmann EZ Track #4 Turnouts (Bachmann item no. 44558).  I cut the black wire on the underside of my turn-outs, soldered a length of wire on to it, plugged one end into the tab on the underside of the frog, and the other end to the frog juicer. On my set up with the frog juicer energized only one leg of each turnout is energized with respect to the frog, i.e. either the straight leg, or the turn leg.  Therefore my engines are going dead when using the un-energized route.  Once I give them a push to get past the turn-out they are OK until I run them back over the turnout.  Any suggestions as to how to correct this?

I think I see my problem.  I've got several turnouts with plastic frogs (Bachmann EZ Track turnouts), and a couple of short wheel base pick-ups (0-6-0 steam locos and diesel locos).  Id like to replace them with turnouts that have metal frogs, but when I go to Bachmann's online catalog, they don't tell you which have metal and which have plastic.  I'd like to be sure that I'm getting what I need before I order.  Also been looking for something that gives dimensions of turnouts so that I know that I'm getting ones that fit in place of the plastic frog turnouts.  Is there some way of knowing that I'm getting the right turnouts (metal frogs and correct dimensions)?

where did you get it?

I've got a DCC setup, using a Digitrax DCS-51 for control.  Whenever any of my engines gets onto a turnout track the DCS shows a short circuit (flashing  0 0 0 0 on the DCS display).  I've checked with my voltmeter and it shows normal voltage on the adjoining track (i.e. no loco problem track section) and the turnout track sections.  I've also disconnected the power and checked with my ohm meter for shorts, and found none.  Some of my turn-outs have powered frogs and some do not, but it doesn't seem to make any difference if they're powered or not.  Does anyone have any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

ordered and received JST connectors from Amazon.  The females are wired, but the male connectors have no wires attached to them, and there are no instructions.  How do I attach wires to the male connectors?

Don't have access to MRC.  It was running fine until about 2 weeks ago on the Digitrax system

Yes, my other DCC locos are running OK.  I'm using a Digitrax DCS 51

I've got a Mantua 0-6-0T DCC equipped, which has stopped working.  On the program track it reads all of its CVs with no problem, it also runs OK on a DC track (runs forward & reverse with headlamp).  However it does not respond to any commands on the DCC track, won't even turn on the head light.  I've reset it to the factory defaults, but get the same results.  Any thoughts as to what may be wrong and how to fix it?

About a year ago I purchased a Mantua 0-6-0T with DCC.  It has been a nice little yard switcher, but a couple of evenings ago it went wild, running at high speed on the layout even tho it's throttle was turned all the way down.  Then it went completely dead.  I'm sure that the decoder is gone, and I'd like to replace it, but I don't see any way to remove the shell to access it.  No help on the internet sites that I've been able to find.  Any suggestions??

I'm looking for electrical connectors to connect an HO engine and tender.  I.e. to install DCC electronics in the tender, but to be able to switch tenders for the same engine.  Any recommendations on what type and where to get them?
