Thomas & Friends / Re: The Everything Thomas Topi...
Last post by Awesometrain77 - June 18, 2026, 01:23:15 PM
So the tankers and the gunpowder vans and the open coach have came out .

I expect the next products we will see are going to be the express coaches and G scale LBSC Thomas .

And in the winter LBSC Thomas and Black James Diesel and Paxton along side Bulgy. Possibly the n scale plank wagons, and the troublesome truck 7 .

I could see Sidney and mainland  being delayed into early 2027 . Maybe even after satly . At this point in the year anything that is not painted I am unsure if they will release by the end of the year .Likely we Won't see any HO engine release this winter however 4 n scale engines are more then likely.

As for me.

HO Scale:

Whiff, Norman, or Hiro
Green Salty, or Blue Bill and Ben
Utility Van (repaint of mail car)
Troublesome Truck #8 (coal wagon)
Works Unit Coach (green, orange and blue)
Waste Wagon (if we get Whiff)
Mining Wagon w/ Ore Load

HO Scale Reintroductions:

'Arry and Bert
Classic Oil Tanker
Sodor Mail Car

Narrow Gauge:
Luke
Smudger or Proteus
Tan Brake Van
Tan Box Van
Gray Brake Van
Gray Box Van
4-Plank Wagon
Red Coach w/ Face
Blue Coach w/ Face

N Scale:
Edward
Duck
'Arry and Bert
Coal Wagon w/ Load
Cargo Car
Mail Car
Red Coach
Red Brake Coach
Red Express Coach
Red Express Brake Coach
BR 20-Ton Brake Van or Spiteful Brake Van

We'll see if some of these can be announced this NMRA. There's especially high expectations for Narrow Gauge, as well as N Scale, since the backlog is clearing. We may not see N Scale getting 'Arry and Bert just yet until after the release of Diesel and Paxton. Edward or Duck must be next for N Scale. N Scale is really lacking in brake vans. The next HO Scale engine will most likely be a new tooling, like Whiff, Norman or Hiro.

Bachmann's Facebook now has high quality images of N Scale Diesel and Paxton. After getting a better look, it appears that Diesel's side rods are chemically blackened, rather than silver like his HO and Large counterparts. It will also be like that for the eventual N Scale 'Arry and Bert models. Same for Paxton's red side rods also being used for the eventual N Scale Sidney. If we get N Scale 'Arry and Bert in the near future, Bert needs to have noticeably more stubble, so the two can easily be told apart. There's demand for them to come back in HO Scale.

We haven't seen Sidney's HO Scale model yet, or Mainland Diesel for that matter, but we will soon. If the samples have arrived already, maybe we'll see teasers for them before the July stream. If Sidney is a popular seller, he can also be made for Large and N Scales.

At this moment, N Scale Henry and HO Scale Flying Scotsman are the only previously announced models that haven't had unpainted samples shown yet. HO Sidney and Mainland Diesel may be shown fully painted. Hopefully by the August stream at the earliest, we see the unpainted sample for N Scale Henry, and it may be a bit later before the unpainted sample of HO Scale Flying Scotsman. We know they're both coming in 2027, while N Scale Diesel and Paxton will be in stock by the end of this year.

General Discussion / Re: DCC controller functions
Last post by Yard Master - June 17, 2026, 04:21:08 PM
Hi KPAnTX,

Unfortunately, the E-Z Command and E-Z Command Plus controllers don't have the ability to program CVs. You will need a more advanced command station or programming software to set CV values and assign functions.

General Discussion / DCC controller functions
Last post by KPAnTX - June 17, 2026, 03:49:23 PM
I am confused.
I have a Bachmann DCC controller.  How do I assign decoder CV functions  to the functions on the controller?
Many CV on the decoder have a range. How do i set the  value in the Controller.

On30 / Re: artillery pieces for flat ...
Last post by old pilot - June 17, 2026, 05:52:03 AM
Good morning Fred, and any other interested reader,

It's not too difficult, as part of my philosophy is "Keep it simple, stupid." I tell myself this whenever I contemplate any project, on or off the layout.

Choose your flatcar, check its operational reliability, weather it to your standards. I complete mine with a spray of Dullcote, but not in the coupler pocket or on the trucks and wheels for smooth operation. To keep the moderator happy, Bachmann freight cars seldom need much adjustment.

The cannons were satisfactory to me as purchased, just a spray of Dullcote. The scale 6" X 6" wheel chocks came from my scrap box as did the wooden crate which has two purposes; adding to the interest of the load and hiding some weight to give the car some heft. The thread used for O scale rope/cable came from my wife's threads box (sewer/quilter, etc.).

Position the cannons so the wheels line up (side to side) with the pockets on the side of the flatcar. The thread is weaved several times through one side pocket to give it strength of connection, through the wheels to the other side pocket. Give the thread at each pocket a touch of glue to hold it. Trim any excess when dry. Give yourself plenty of thread for weaving, makes it easier.

I did not glue the cannons or the crate to the flatcar as the thread holds them in relative position for normal handling. The wheel chocks were glued using Elmer's all purpose white glue for easy removal if I change my mind later.

That's about it. If there are any questions or someone needs further explanation due to my poor description, just ask.

Quote from: Chaz on June 15, 2026, 01:36:20 AMHere's my official "list" (haven't done one of these in a while), of what I could see being announced between the rest of this year and 2027.  I think 2027 is most likely going to be the next "big year" for Bachmann and not another "catch-up year" as they've been focusing a lot more on progress on previously announced projects.  That being said, I'm pretty optimistic and I figured after some time here is my official new list post:

HO/OO scale:
Hiro
Whiff
'Arry and Bert reintroduction

All exactly the same as my previous posts, no reason to repeat my reasoning here.

HO/OO scale rolling stock
Troublesome truck #8 (coal wagon)
Slip coaches
Sodor mail car reintroduction
Classic oil tanker reintroduction
Utility van (repaints of the mail car tooling)

Truck 8 was explained earlier in another post.  I like how Bachmann is starting to cater to both model and cgi eras for rolling stock designs. It gives me a reasonable amount of hope that older rolling stock decals can finally make a big reintroduction.  I would especially love a return of the classic oil tanker.  The slip coaches feel like the next obvious new rolling stock tooling. They're an obscure piece of rolling stock in CGI that have been used pretty frequently.  If Bachmann went ahead with a new tooling for a blue open carriage of all things, I can totally see the slip coaches getting introduced soon.  Especially with Duck and Oliver still being top sellers.

Figure packs:
Sodor Celebrity pack
Brass band

I'm a little surprised they haven't announced any new figure packs yet, but again considering how far behind Bachmann is on previous projects, I can totally see why. I think they're only just going to announce two packs since last time they announced six for their first batch, which seems like a lot in one go.

Narrow gauge:
Duncan revival
Luke

While Duncan is self-explanatory, Luke is the only CGI narrow gauge engine I would have any interest in, as I never really felt one way or the other about Victor or Millie.

Narrow gauge rolling stock:
4-Plank wagons
Skarloey Railway carriage - blue
Skarloey Railway carriage - red
Tan brake van

"But Chaz, we already have blue and red narrow gauge carriages!"

We do, but hear me out...

I personally think it would be a very smart idea for Bachmann to look into adding more narrow gauge coaches but this time, adding faces to them. This seems like such an easy win-win for everyone involved. Bachmann would get a lot of sales on these from the older audience with only adding a faceplate to their blue carriage and repainting the red carriage in classic colors with a new faceplate.  Fans win because that's more classic rolling stock that would be appealing for both nostalgic and younger audiences who like the different facial expressions.  If Bachmann went ahead with the spiteful brake fan and something as niche as the D fusit gunpowder van, I can totally see them going this exact same route for narrow gauge coach repaints.  I'm surprised no one else has brought this up or at least hasn't recently.

The 4-plank wagons are the new narrow gauge rolling stock tooling I'd like to see them introduce the most. Tippers wouldn't be a bad idea either considering they have a real life Talyllyn repaint option Bachmann can look into.  The tan brake van is another obvious choice that needs no further explanation

N scale engines:
Edward
Duck

Absolutely no reason to go over these two again, they are both the most obvious and popular requests, it would be a misfire if Bachmann did not already have one of these planned for the next N scale engine announcement.

N scale rolling stock:
BR brake van/spiteful brake van
Coal wagon with load
Red coaches
Tidmouth milk tanker (new tooling and not a farish tanker repaint)
Tar tanker

All of these I have talked about before, and are pretty self-explanatory so no reason to go crazy in depth over these.

Large scale:
Christmas Thomas (leaked from earlier)

I didn't share my thoughts on this announcement just because we still don't know what the final design of this is going to look like, but I do think this does say something for the future of the large scale range in terms of engines. I think they're just going to stick with repaints going forward in large scale, and announcement choices like this seemed to further prove that.

Large scale rolling stock:
Henrietta and Hannah
Sodor Fuel tank

Seeing as the classic milk tank is getting an introduction in large scale, it only makes sense for the Sodor fuel tanker to get the same level of love here too.

As for Henrietta and Hannah, I think the same could largely be said for large scale rolling stock as it is for engines, with Bachmann likely focusing on repaints from this point forward. However, I believe Henrietta and Hannah are the one exception. Bachmann has already shown through the N scale range that the Henrietta tooling can be reused to create Hannah, making the pair an ideal candidate if they decide to pursue one final new tooling in large scale.

I don't collect large scale, but mark my words, but the moment they announce Henrietta I will start collecting G scale and look into joining a local club.

And... That's all on my end.

HO agree on everything. I think we'll get either the iron twins or Whiff first, purely down to cost and them having Scotsman to deal with.

Rolling stock I agree with. Same with the figure packs. It would be cool for maybe an animals of Sodor pack too. Champion the Bull, Bluebell the cow, gremlin the dog so on.

I'm very much in favor of these. We desperately need a Break-van in N scale thats not Toad.

I'd still like to see Bachmann utilise the vent van as I mentioned earlier in N scale as I've said before. I think its also a matter of time before Bachmann release the express coaches in red which I fully support too.

The NG section, I think we'd all love the Coaches with faces. It would be a simple modification and Bachmann would get alot of mileage out of them.
They could even repaint the coaches in future as Agnes, Ruth, Jemima, Lucy and Beatrice.
The 4 plank wagon is my main fright rolling stock item I want.

I think maybe Luke might be safest to announce first until Bachmann figures out Duncan. I still think Model era is the way to go. But whatever they do it'll likely cuase someone to be upset. Either him not being close enough to Douglas or fans saying he is too close too Douglas and not looking as he does on tv.

Large scale again, no notes. I don't really have any worthy suggestions to add besides what I have already spoken about.

You've given some food for thought here, Chaz. Allow me to weigh in, if you will:

While I can see the Yellow Diesels and the rolling stock recolors being announced in January, with a newly tooled engine happening for NMRA.

It'd be awesome to see the Sodor Mail vans make a comeback. The Oil tanker on the other hand, I don't dislike it, but it felt like a knockoff Tar Tanker for the Gullane era, if that makes any sense.

The utility van would be fun, but what I'd like to see is a NW Brakevan. Essentially the Spiteful Brakevan but with no face. Especially now that the track cleaning brake vans are discontinued.

As far as a Troublesome Truck #8, I like the idea of the coal wagon, but how about a stone load? That'd be a new load that would entice buyers to buy the truck, even if just for the load.

I like those figure packs! For the celebrity packs, I'd like to see Tom Tipper, Lord Callan, Sir Robert Norramby and Miss Jenny.

Since Sir Handel's release, I think Bachmann could pull off Duncan to simultaneously announce a Douglas (TR) model as well. I like Luke, but I feel he's too detailed to justify a cost. Honestly? Victor is much more simplified, detail wise. Plus there's the Yellow Victor recolor.

As for the narrow gauge coaches with faces, I'd preorder day one. I personally wanted the red coaches. Now that the Talyllyn coaches are out, it makes the Thomas red NG coaches redundant, so another good opportunity to introduce a new variant of the tooling.

The 4 plank wagons would also make for more rolling stock options. Ever since the gondolas and D Fusit, it's great to know the sky is the limit.

Don't have much to say on large scale, but I agree with your thoughts. Henrietta has been needed for about 15 years now. The time is now.

And that's all I have. Hopefully, I've weighed in to generate some discussion, too.

Great job, Old Pilot. The pictures look very realistic. If you feel like it, please post a short note on your construction techniques. It doesn't have to be too detailed, just kind of a 10-foot overview. I, for one would be very interested. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

On30 / artillery pieces for flat car ...
Last post by old pilot - June 16, 2026, 09:23:40 AM
Hello all,

Computer told me to start a new topic since my last post was too old. Finally built the loads, also two for my HO scale layout. They are nothing fancy or greatly detailed as I read a long time ago, if you can't see a detail from 3' you are wasting your time. This is also my layout philosophy of just trying to create the impression of the real world.
