Are the wheelsets and rods / valve gear interchangeable?  We want to scrap a defective light one to put to the drivers / running gear in a problematic heavy one.

Suggestion:
Go to "PARTS, SERVICE&INFORMATION" and find hat you are looking for there.  If you have never attempted work on valve gear, you'll NOt want to tackle this puppy right out of the chute!  Advice from someone who builds this stuff up:  Get a new whole underframe assembly-you will know what I am talking about when you look at the part4s breakdown.  Putting the superstructure onto a new frame/motor/valvegear assembly is by far, the lesser of all devils!

My friend who this is for, he  has done this kind of work before.  I have a light mountain with a shot gear train, he has a heavy with a broken eccentric crank.  Are the driver sets and running gear interchangeable?  If not, I'm going to get a new gearbox put in it.  And he will fix his engine some other way.

No one out there knows if I can drop a driver/rods/valve gear assembly from a light mountain into a heavy mountain?  No one in the House Of Bachmann knows?  Or could ask the service department?

The problem is that on the heavy, an eccentric crank became unriveted from the crank.  In trying to fix it, the teenage owner broke the crank.  We believe we have the parts needed to fix the heavy but would rather sacrifice the light one to get a drop in running gear deal for the heavy.

The heavy is an IC engine the IC fan owner really wants running. The light is an NYO&W engine, a road we don't care about.  It doesn't run because a metal gear inside has disintegrated.

Of course you can; just close your eyes, click your heels together three times, and...
Actually, looking at it, there are a couple of options (if you are a masochist) that wold probably work.  Like I aforemention ed, this is not for the faint-at-heat...  If you are really hot for this, get the whole valve gear assembly.  it's there; live and in living colour...
