Narrow gauge is often considered something from the steam age, and I love it that way myself, especially since I live a relatively short 75 miles or so from the East Broad Top Railroad & Coal Company.

But this is not always so, as illustrated by this material from Railpictures.net.

I doubt that anyone will produce this equipment, but at the same time the locomotives look relatively plain in the detail department; perhaps they would not be too tough to scratch up.  Cars might be a problem, simply by needing a lot of them.  Either way, you would have something not everybody else would have!

I stumbled on the Henderson mine operation a while back when I was cruising around western Colorado. Alas, I never saw anything running, but I noted the narrow gauge and overhead electric as being worthy of investigation when I had more time. Shame I never found "more time."

The USG railroad is covered in depth in a new book b Charles O'Herin called White Gold Railroad - Plaster City Narrow Gauge. In addition to the Montreal Loco Works units, they had a few other modern diesels, and also ran some steam including ex SPNG nos. 8 and 9.

Charles' book is very good coverage of a modern Narrow Gauge railroad.  But be careful of the dates for the last runs of steam.  SPNG had retired #8 and #9 by the dates in the book, #18 and #22 long before that.
I have talked with Charles about this dates and he has said something is wrong with them.  I have not gotten around to finding the verification, by source, for the actual dates.
I have built models of #18 and #22.  They run!!! (on my garden railroad).

Wow This brings back memories. I used to camp there in the early 80.s The trains would run all day. I need to go through my archives. I have lots of pictures. I used to take them through the fence that ran the whole length of the RR
