I am not an expert but did do one 2 6 0 and one 0 4 2 DCC install. These are not the easiest DCC installs to start on but if you take your time and study up it you should be able to handle them.

The website below really helped me on the 2 6 0 install. It is a little tricky taking it apart and depending on the decoder you select you might have to modify the frame.

I would recomend you do the 2 6 0 first as there is more room to work on it and it is a little easier than the porter.

The site below really helped me with my 0 4 2 porter. I think the 0 4 0 is similar just even less room.

Hope this helps and Best of luck

Hi.
I have done a 0-4-2 VERY tricky take your time. I built a all weather cab so the decoder is hidden inside the cab. the inside of the 0-4-0 and 0-4-2 are the same under the tank. the floor is longer on the 0-4-2 so the rear truck and bunker can be mounted but that doesn't make it any easier to do the install just more room for a decoder to be stuck to the floor.

You may consider waiting for the new porters with DCC installed to come out. I was going to attempt another but now I'm going to just buy a couple with sound.
