I have a new Spectrum 2-8-0 w/DCC no sound and have purchased a Soundtraxx DSD-B280LC for it.  The only problem is the pcb position for the 8-pin plug is offset and so the new decoder won't fit in the proper place.  Would a male 8-pin with about 2" of wires and female 8-pin work, or do any of you modellers have another solution for my problem ???

I would say that will work.  Depite the fact that your 2-8-0 came with a decoder, you will probably have to cut the capacitars anyway.
