2007 catalog indicates product #98916 flat car kit  2 per box at $53.00
Does that mean $53.00 for box of 2 kits or $53.00 for each car kit.
I read this as product #98916 for $53.00 you get a box with 2 flat car kits.
please advise, Thankyou!

That's the way I read it also. Two kits per box.

If your parents never had children, chances are you won't either.

Jon D. Miller

That's two flat cars per box for the price stated.

Congratulations.  You both win today's reading comprehension award. ;)

I bought 5 boxes of the flat car kits over two year period. All from Trainworld.  None were warped and all had knuckle couplers.

I missed the run that had only the hook & loops.  I remember at the time when the problem occured, Bachmann acknowledged the problem and offered free knuckle couplers to those who wanted them.

I must have a big "X[" on my back as far as b'man is concerned
years ago trainworld had a close out sale
drgw full baggage maroon for maybe $10-12.00
I ordered four,
hell no, while I'm at gimmie five
they showed up, i was happy
put them on the back shelf in the "to do" rotation
years later, opened one
had a coupon for free catalog
1994 (or 5)
so trainworld had them for five years
then dumped them
I had them for five more years
ok
my little empire runs around under my patio cover
so i put it up there and shoved it down the track
three feet away
"stuff" came flying out, car nose dived
I was standing there for a while in a "wow" moment
took a half hour but i found all the axles
come to find out
if you put the car on a table in front of you
look straight down the clerestory
chimney under your left pinky
both sideframes on your right were warped
all five cars
can't be accident
nod and a wink
after ten years, why bother ? ?
then I saw notice in some mag
can't remem which
b"man re-issued flat kits
surfed around
ordered three boxes
those of you "challenged", that's six cars
all hook n loop as before
then, rode narrow guage trains in spring '08
wife suggested models of cars we rode
flat kits were back ordered til late "08
ordered three more boxes
those of you "challenged", that's six cars
all sagging
well, the trucks are worth it

Best advice is to go to hobby shops, train meets, trainshows or swap meets and buy a product you can visually inspect.

Never buy on Ebay Ever!!

When you get a defective product from a retailer or mailorder company inspect it immediately.  A warped/ damaged item even if bought on sale or closeout, is returnable, so best to return it.  My son had to recently return a high dollar NON Bachmann loco to St Aubins. He bought it on sale, but the cab was warped and the loco wobbled down the track.  He had no problem returning it, and opted for his money back.

Retailers sometimes store things next to radiators, or in hot uncooled warehouses.  That is how things get warped in a sealed box!  This is not just a Bachmann problem.  Just ask owners of very high dollar flat cars, not the Bachmann ones, about how they sagged in 95 degree weather after being parked in the sun.

If you didn't get knuckles with your flatcars contact Bachmann and ask for them.  Bachmann has always sent me parts I ordered by phone.  Use the regular number not the 800 number.

Finally if you are unsatisfied with any brand, regardless of which, never buy their products in the future.

I have followed these rules with great success, and hope it will work for you.

Hello all!
I had a Bachmann 4-axle caboose kit, ordered from Walthers via my dealer in Hon Kong, which had a distorted base frame.
To send it back from China via HK to Walthers would have been very expensive.
So I just fixed it with clamps on my wife's kitchen board (normally used for cutting the meat, BTW, she was absent when I did it).
Then boiled some liters of water in our noodle pot, poor it over the fixed frame and let it cool down.
After loosening the clamps, the frame was straight and ready to use.

Yea! That's quite similar to what i've read about straightening warped vinyl fantasy and sci-fi figure models and some resin parts.

Some have mentioned putting part in ice water right after straightening with the hot in order to "set" the new shape.
