...That you can't win against a train regardless of the type....

An accident between a Maryland MTA Lightrail and a tractor trailer happened today. Driver of the train was flown to shock trama and 2 others transported to area hospitals. I hear the crossing signals were working when the truck tried to beat the train.

Trucks will never learn.
Many  drivers will not either.
Like one of the four Red Neck comedians says. You Cannot Fix It.

I don't think they will ever learn . Our poor new light rail here in Houston ,it seems at least once a month you see them on the news jacking the train up and putting back on the rails due to a metro bus hitting it or someone not paying attention  to stop lights or the rail crossings . It's actually a nice line there trying to expand it ,but for some reason it's not catching on . I think people are attached to their roomy SUV's and pick up trucks....

I wonder how that will affect the train show in Timonium?

shouldn't effect it too much, it happened North of the fairgrounds stop and the fairgrounds stop is in service....they should hopefully have the line reopened in the next week and a half.

And don't forget, there was a runaway freight in Oslo, Norway that killed at least 3. It was traveling at about 60 mph when it hit the port.

RAM

When will trucks learn?  Never.  It is the drivers that must learn.

Runaway freight?

What "runaway freight"?

To me it sounds like a cut of three freight cars got away from the crew further up the line and ran out of control down the grade, sadly with tragic results.

now a CSX Freight derailed on the B&O's old main line. 8 cars derailed no injuries or hazmats spilled.

There is always some stupid person who thinks that he or she is going to beat the train at the crossing...and when they lose...THEY LOSE!

This is why light rail transportation systems in metropolitan areas should either be subways or elevated trains.  Trains that operate at street level in metropolitan areas are a magnet for stupid people.

they are like moths to a light. Stupid, dumb, idiots >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

It is sad, but no matter how stupid a person is.  They usually win when they or family sue.
