does anyone have problems with running the goose?
I have.
Lately i bought two rail trucks and when driven moderately slow to slow they don't run smooth.
After extensive surgery i discovered that the gearbox is the problem.
The last cog , connecting to the driveshaft, is not uniformly shaped.
two teeth are further appart then the rest.
probably due to the injection mould.
Is this problem known to Bachmann?
And if yes, what is Bachmann going to do about it.

The Bachmann On30 rail truck is known to have "split gear syndrome", which cases rough running, especially at low speeds, but this is the first I've heard of misshaped gears. Could it be that your gear is in the first stage of "split gear syndrome". and just hasn't fully split yet? Or, could it be possible that many gears are molded badly, causing symptoms that mimic a split gear, and are thus diagnosed as such without it being seen that they actually are split? Either way, it's a factory defect, and something that Bachmann needs to address.

Regards,
Bill

it is pure the last small gear of the gearbox next to the motor.
I know because i did some extensive surgery on the offending gearbox and had a look with a magnifiing glass. it's about 0.25 of an inch small.
The problem it that the gear was attached to the moulding tree at that spot and they had to make space for the tree the wrong way.
The "differential"gear is ok
The driven wheels are also ok exept from a bit of wobble.

Thanks Bachmann!

out of the blue i received a pleasant surprise.
A brand new railtruck as spare parts for my limping goose.
After the transplant of the chassis it is running much better than it did before.
there is still a tick in the gearbox , but it is much better then before.
The wobble is gone.
Thanks again for the excelent service.
