Who bought out IHC?

No one, they have stopped production, they are kaput, and the owner is not faring very well either (I think he's in his 80's), so I've heard. Buy what you can find because after that, you'll never find them again. As a side note, I think Mehano went down the tank also.

Yeah I heard in a show last year IHC was gonna be gone soon. The owner was getting old and his kids didn't want to take over the company so he decided to close it. Kinda surprised Bachmann didn't try to get some of the toolings(they had some decent stuff in the OT MOW freight cars etc)

By coincidence, I purchased a number of sets of the IHC MOW cars.

They are both in kit and built versions.  The consist of the blacksmith's car, the rail and tie car, the derrick car, the wooden tank car as well as the bunk and box car.

I agree, these kits are very well detailed. However, I was surprised to see that they were manufactured in China. I had assumed that Mehano would have been the manufacturer, but obviously I was wrong.

I wonder under whose label these cars will show up?

In addition to the MOW there were the log cars, the log loader as well as well as a set of old time cars.

Their 4-4-0 and 2-6-0 ( share the same body ) while not really detailed like The Spectrum steamers were great runners

I bought one of the IHC 2-10-2's and am extremely pleased with the engine.

The engine comes with a plug for DCC in the tender and is also drilled for mounting a speaker. It is an extremely good running locomotive and I will be adding a Tsunami card and speaker soon. The level of added detail is very good, almost as detailed as a Spectrum.

What surprised me was that the engine was made in China. I had not realized that the steam production had been relocated to China. Having learned this fact I would not be surprised if the IHC engines do come back onto the market.
