Several years ago my wife gave me a Spectrum series K4 4-6-2 as her wedding gift to me.  Finally joined a train club where I've got some track to run it, took it out of the box, and I have no idea how to get the tender attached.  It's got a sway bar coming from the engine that allows a full pivot by the tender, but it needs to also be attached to the tender.  The opening on the tender is not large enough to insert it, so it appears you have to take the front tender truck off and then remove the forward screw to loosen the base of the tender from the tender body shell, insert the sway bar, and then put everything back together.  Has anybody encountered this engine before that can offer any suggestions?

Thanks!

There should be a vertical pin under the tender.  The dsraw bar fits on the pin, the near pin for wide radii turns and the far pin for narrow radii turns.

Dear Britton,
It sounds like the newer drawbar. I was able to squeeze the fork together and snap it in. You can remove the screws, however.
Have fun!
