First clean the tread of locomotive’s wheels with Isopropyl Alcohol. Then place a very small amount of conductive contact lube on the electrical pick-up wheels’ tread and other electrical pick-up rub points.

Use
Heavy oil on the axles and gearbox bearings
Light oil on motor bearings, side rods and any place else parts rub together.

Apply an amount (drop) no larger than the size of the head of a standard straight pin at each lube point. More lubrication is NOT better. Too much lubrication at or around the motor may cause damage to it.
