The Hornby Duck is a bad model; it uses a tooling that dates to the 1970s.

Yeah, I can tell you that. I have him ::) ;)
sorry for double post but we must refrain from critisizing them further as they can't respond it says so in the forum code of conduct so yeah ;)
We had a discussion about this awhile ago. Hornby doesn't really care much for our minority of opinions, and they  any fights while I'm here so I'll just drop it

I just saw "Gordon Takes a Shortcut" for the first time today. Seems like the only way we can see Duck or Oliver in the show is if some other engine gets lost on an unknown railway! :P

Although I'm not a big fan of Season 8 onwards, that episode was pretty good.

I say up to season 5 were orignals, up to season 8 were Ok, and only that episode is ok past season 8.

Cheeky_ULP

Season 8 feels like an extended Season 7 in some aspects.

BillingsRR

From Season 8 on almost all of the episodes had the same storyline-
Someone takes something/does something wrong/does not listen.
They crash and are rescued.
They learn never to make the same mistake again.

That's the plot for the majority of episodes, especially those like Dirty Objects (James doesn't pay attention, crashes,  and realizes he was bad to Toby) and Percy Takes the Plunge (Percy ignores a danger sign, crashes into the sea, and learns to obey signs). The problem is the writing in newer episodes adds less uniqueness to each episode. Otherwise, plots have changed little.

BillingsRR

Yes it is true there are a lot of old episodes like that, but now every single episode follows those guidelines. There is no difference except the fact it is a new engine each time.

TheJJ

Same with Down a Mine too.

I'd say the true originals would be seasons 1-4, since those are the seasons based on the Railway Series (for the most part). After that, Thomas and Friends seemed to get worse little by little, season after season, until it has reached its current state  of "ugh".

BillingsRR

Season 5 followed the RWS guidelines. They were more accurate than what is out now. Season 6 is when the accuracy disapeered along with Allcroft. Sure the episodes where not from the books, but they had similar story lines and used the same characters.

I guess your right, now that I think about it. But my personal favorite seasons are 1-4.

I'd say  seasons 8-11 feels like a continuation of seasons 1-3.(Which were the best)
