We have the std EZ-Command DCC controller. On the back is a plug labeled "from DC Controller". I'm assuming that's to provide additional load support when you go above the max 1A. Is this correct? I can't find any docs on this. When using an "auxillary" dc controller, do you simply turn it all the way up? Can you simplify it by hooking up a 12V DC supply to this port?

That is incorrect, it does not provide any additional power, in fact if they are both plugged in you will cause damage. The from DC controller is only for if you want to free address 10 for DCC use, if you have 10 DCC locomotives, if you need more juice you will have to purchase a DCC booster, there is no way around it. When using the DC controller in conjunction with the DCC system only the Bachmann DC controller should be plugged in, do not under any circumstances plug in the DCC system. Boosters will run you around $150-$350 depending on which one you get and where you get it.

read page 6 of the EZ Command Manuel . you can hook up a Bachmann DC controller and use address 10 to run that DC Locomotive off the Bachmann DC controller . it also says that some DC Locomotives may over heat and aren't compatible for this operation .And also says so you and a friend can run a DC locomotive while running DCC Locomotives .  Pg 6 has an illustration of how to hook the DC analog controller to the EZ Command .

So 1/2  one 2 dozen of the other . I wouldn't do it . I run 5 to 7 Locomotives at one time with my EZ Command no problem on a 5x9ft Layout 18" Inner and 22" outter main, 12 switches .

here is a link to the Manuel

Thanks for the replies. That's why I asked. :) Didn't want to let the smoke out.

Dear All,

The DC controller also provides circuit breaker protected AC accessories terminals which the EZ-Commmand station doesn't have....

I have extra DC controller power pack sets.  PM me or email me: joebarb"AT"wwt"DOT"net if interested.

Sincerely,

If your loco is too heavy to lift, you'd better be able to ride in, on or behind it.
