What could cause a very loud electrical noise from  an analog loco on a DCC system?

Is that normal?

rrtreerat

Yes; as it, the none decodered loco, is see the AC component of the DCC signal in the track.
It is not advisable to leave the loco on the track for very long as damage will eventually occur.

I concur.
Do not leave a DC loco on a a DCC track.
Bad things will happen.

Thanks guys.  It did sound bad, indeed.

Wait, the Bachman DCC set says you can run an analog train on it?

Just because you can do it doesn't mean it's a good idea.  The track on a DCC system always has an AC component on it and the motor in a DC analog locomotive doesn't respond well to it.  Over time, the motor will overheat possibly doing permanent damage.
