Sample DCC Layout?

I am trying to get back into this hobby and DCC is all new to me.  I have read a number of sources and understand the fundamentals of it.  But what is not clicking with me is how you would actually have to implement all the necessary components to make it all work.  Is there a sample layout or diagram picture somewhere that shows how you would setup a DCC track, specifically using Bachmann products?  I am hoping it would show what kind of track pieces you would need, wiring, etc.  If it matters, my first layout will likely be 4x8.

Thanks!

Read this link for starters

http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/DCC.htm#Reversing%20Loops

It will help you understand a little better about DCC. There are great books available also from you LHS.

Thanks for the link - a lot of great info there.
Looks like that will be on my weekend list of reading.

dcc is a control system, just like the standard dc power pack. as such, the track layout is irrelevant. there is no such thing as a dc track plan, or a dcc track plan. either system can be used with any track plan.

that said, to run dcc you do need decoder equipped locomotives. that is the biggest difference in what you need to run dcc vs dc. control of switch motors by dcc is optional, if you don't want the added expense of decoder equipped switches you can use regular switches and power them off an old dc power pack, while running your trains with dcc. that's what i do.

The Alan Gartner's web site http://www.wiringfordcc.com/ also has a bunch of useful info on wiring a DCC layout.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.
