While doing a repair on a Spectrum 2-8-0, I managed to damage the top thread on the engine axle for the screw that connects the drive rods to the axles. This screw part number is G814X-MTD10. It is about 1/4 inch long, fine thread, total diameter of the stem of .115". I need a tap for such a screw. What would be the size? and Where would I find such a tap? Thanks.

Bob,

That screw is a decorative top with a metric M3X0.5.     The bolt through the counterweight is an M2X6mm.

I order these taps through McMaster-Carr and/or Enco (use-enco.com).
