I have had my Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe train set for a while now, and, about a year ago, I was running it with MTH smoke fluid and the smoke switch was set to on and all of a sudden a foul smell started coming from it and from that point on, the smoke has never worked.  Is this a common problem; does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas?

You can buy a new smoke unit and install it.  See link below

You can contact Bachmann Service and see if they can fix it under warraty.

or You can live without the smoke unit depending on how important it is to you.

Hope this helps.
